Mix has always had a greasy build up behind his knees but this year he's far worse to the point they are sore and broken. I know its my fault- he doesnt get groomed as much and Ive clipped his feathers off previously which I havent done this year. Any ideas about what to use?

Emily, I think Bev's Bobs had something like this and she used some homeopathic remedy - it might have Graphites but I'm not sure, maybe PM her and ask what it was

Yes, it was graphites.
Alfie used to get this and I softened the deposits with Camrosa and they lifted off when I groomed him. I did clip his feather off as well so that the area was easier to manage. It was awfully messy though, and attracted the dirt - which wasn't too good on his white legs.

Yes it was Graphites Emily. He is currently on them at the moment, I give him 4 every night and its been a week since he started them and I can already see a difference. It has gone less thick if you know what I mean. Iv tried in the past........hibiscrubing and drying every night, fungal wash, tea tree, excema cream, sudocreme and probably more but nothing shifted it apart from graphites!

Where do you get graphites from? Liz wll love me having something else to add to his tea (food plus a bute plus 3 scoops riaflex). Never heard of them but willing to have a go! I dont want to clip as I want hs legs as warm as possible for his arthritis (plus if I clip them ll clip him all and rug which I am trying to tell myself to do all winter!)

I get graphites from Boots the chemists - in with the other homeopathic stuff. They are tiny little pills - I mix them with sugar beet and down they go. They really make a difference to Harley, and I use the Camrosa too to lift and soften them.
