Did anyone else buy one of those cheap Suber/Ergo pads off of Ebay recently?

It's a cork filled pad to go underneath a saddle. There were loads of them on Ebay that were going very cheaply recently.

Are you impressed Greydales? I have one too but don't know what I'm supposed to do with it? Does that sound really silly?!

To be honest I haven't used it, it is currently with Linda (dalesponyrider) so she should be able to give you a better update! I only got it as it was so cheap compared to the current one which is around £100. It's basically a saddle pad to be used under your saddle, but it does depend on how the saddle fits the horse as the pad is fairly thick.

I'm afraid I haven't tried it yet! Maybe tomorrow if it stays dry.

Well I use it as my current saddle is too wide. Kay Humphries should be out to adjust it shortly...I too only bought it as it was such a bargain!!

I used mine under my Dartmoor Treefree yesterday and it was great. I was already a fan of suberpads so I thought I'd give ergopad a go. Seemed to make my saddle even more stable on my highland than it already is. I even managed to mount from the ground without it slipping which you'd realise is a bit of a miracle if you could see me trying to hoist myself up.

Well I tried it very briefly today. I had to lunge D today rather than ride so I just popped on for 10 mins after I had finished. I thought I would feel very perched as the saddle looked high but I didn't actually. I was worried it would slip as there isn't anything to hold it in place but it stayed stable. I'm not sure if it made any difference to D but I'll have a longer ride on it up and down our one and only hill either tomorrow or Saturday and let you know how it goes.

Well, I've given it a good test today and I have to say Gill, I wouldn't give it houseroom. In fact, I tell you what, I'll do you a favour and buy it off you so you don't have to have it sitting around at your house. I REALLY don't think you should try it, you'll only be disappointed - honest! I'll just hang onto it for you..............

Nah, that's ok Gill. Now I know it works I'll save up for a suber pad. I wouldn't want to deprive you!
They really are good though. I was a bit concerned that you can't really pull it off the withers like a high wither pad but I didn't find there was any pressure under it. I don't really understand why you get pressure from an ordinary numnah but not from this? D really likes it. She is lovely and springy underneath it. Unless of course that is due to my riding suddlenly improving! LOL!
