we have a torsion treeless saddle.it fits our dales mare but i tried it on felix hoping to use it on him and it looks all wrong.if i put it back enough to clear his sholders then the girth hangs down too far back from where it should sit. has anyone else experienced this? if i cannot get it to fit ok then i was considering selling it to fund a different type of treeless.how much do second hand ones(with proper torsion pad) sell for and what other makes are good for the 13.2hh size ponies? i'd love a phoenix but they are way out of my price range.

What was Felix broken in when he went to Jason webbs place? I folllowed the thread you started as i too am sending both of mine away to him soon. Was Felix broken in a Australian Stock saddle? I have the SBS and i have a Fhoenix but im hoping to buy a nice stock saddle as they are super fun to ride in. Have you tried the Trekker dresage/endurance model? My friend just got one for her 13.3HH welshie cob and it looks fantastic on him. I had a ride in it and loved it. They sell on ebay for £399 to £450 complete with pad, girth and leathers.

Sounds good il have to look them up. Jason started fee in his own leather aussie stock saddle but after a few weeks(days in fee's case) he then put the owners saddle on and gets them used to being ridden in it.We sent him with our mares 17'' med/wide ideal whp saddle which fits him really well but through personal choice id rather ride him in a treeless if i can get on to fit him ok.i also really like the wintec aussie stock saddle, a friend in australia had one for years and it was really comfy and secure and also like all wintecs was easy to look after. You can buy them now mail order.i would love to also have one of those if i could afford it but thats just becoause i have a saddle collecting problem.ie i seem to have 3 saddles and 1 rideable pony....

Ive just had a look at the wintec Pro stock saddle and its beautiful. The price lets it down as i can get a new real leather one for £350 off ebay and its the real thing as its made in australia but sold over here. I think i will ask Jason to just break to stock saddle and see if he can get me one or he tells me what size i will need and i will buy one. I still want to use treeless so might add a few weeks to the breaking time so he can use one of mine for that as well. How is Fee by the way? Did you find Jason gave you back a pony that was miles better than when he went? I cant wait for mine to go to him. Ive heard so many good things about this man. Being from Aussie parents myself i guess i would choose him to start the horses for me. The men really do have a knack with the horses.
Just wanted to add i found an ebay seller selling the Trekker in black full leather with suede seat, the special pad that retails for £69.99, the girth and leathers for £450.00. Its the dressage/endurance model as well. Thought this was a super deal. Should be great for an everyday saddle for the horses. Must say i adore the Fhoenix but ive only got 2 saddles and 3 horses, lol.

Hi Yeah Jason did a superb job with felix. We had him back after only 4 weeks hacking calmly on his own in open fields and in traffic.walk, trot and cantering in school and on hacks. And they'd even played around riding him bareback and playing stick and ball with him as Jason coaches polocrosse.Said he was a legend and loved him.Since he got back i managed to hack him alone every day for a week as i had a week off work, hacked him in walk, trot and canter around his 20 acre field and iv even taken him out if light traffic on my own.Ride him up to his field bareback in headcollar and lately as im locuming at a new place and dont get to yard until after 8 at night ive only been able to ride him at weekends and hes still been an angel. So im 110% happy with the job Jason did on him. I know someone who's into natural horsemanship and she sent her mare to him before we sent fee and she was also very impressed with the thoroughness of the job he does. Il go on ebay later anf look at trekkers.

Sounds to me like Jason really is the gifted one in the horse world. If he can do to mine what he has done for Fee then i'll be a very happy person. I know he is overly booked up as he is in such demand. Thank goodness i got mine booked or id be in a first class panick. Id love him to start mine doing polocross as that is a fun sport, but having a ball and stick waving near their ears is a good start with any horse. I like the sound of you riding bareback in a head collar to the field as well. Not that is top marks in my eyes. Horses will miles under their belt cant do that. The more you tell me the more im impressed with Jason. Thank you for this update, its most appreciated indeed.

I have to still master the art of steering right in a headcollar bareback though as i only have 1 rope held in left hand and if he decides to wander left and i want him to go right i have to circle him completely to go right.should really ride with 2 ropes but im just lazy......I have to add though that fee is quite a laid back youngster though. But Jason said even the ones hes had who have been written off by vets as dangerous etc usually come round in 2 months or so. Hope you are equallt pleased with his results when you send your one. You'll have to keep us updated on your progress.

I think it will take Jason about 2 months to sort our first one out for us as he is a pain in the rear end to be honest. If after all the training he still isnt to my liking then i will of course sell him. My second horse is very laid back with perfect manners to boot so Jason should have no problems at all with him. My third horse did join up with a trainer up north before i bought him and he is super chilled from it. Jason did state id need at least 4 weeks of training and 2 weeks of ground work and manners for the youngest horse. I told him that he is not to rush the boy as we are happy for him to stay as long as he needs it. Did Jason teach Fee to be ridden bareback and in a headcollar or was that something you discovered on your return of him? Might i add the photo you placed up of Fee is beautiful. He sure is one very handsome dales pony to be very proud off. Of course i will let you all know how it goes when boy #1 gets back from Jasons place. Im not expecting too much just in case he is one horse that Jason cant train. Ive been warned this could happen.

Hi Is he a dales? They did play around with him jumping on him bareback from ground etc but don't think they rode him properly bareback.i was just being lazy one day after riding him and couldnt be bothered to walk all the way back up the steep hill to his field so i hopped on and let him take me.He's filling out really nicely now and starting to look very handsome.
