My eldest DD is 23 and she is going to be showing my dales for me in loads of classes next year. Thing is all the boys wear a KK ultra snaffle and DD wants them all in Rugby pelhams for the showing classes. So i was wondering do i need to buy Weymouth double bridles or can you suggest bits i can add to their Jefferies hunter bridles? Id appreciate all the help and advise you have on this subject. The woman in the tack shop tried to sell me 3 weymouth Stubben bridles but they looked wrong. Not all all workman like for the girl and boys to be shown in. I like the hunter style better.

You should be able to buy a Jeffries sliphead to match your Hunter bridle and add that to your bridle - voila you will have a double bridle so you can use a rugby pelham. Sounds like a right numpty in the tack shop if she didn't just advise you of that as an optin!

Thank you for that. I shall have to look on the internet for the head slip, and no doubt i need the reins as well. Anyone know what size i need if im not having them in a weymouth set? I mean thickness of the upper and lower? Yes the tack shop is a pain in the rear end most of the time. Seem to think stubben is best because its sold in Harrods. I did tell them they are sold on ebay as well Dont think she was best pleased at that little dig either.

Anyone know what size i need if im not having them in a weymouth set? I mean thickness of the upper and lower? That's down to personal preference. I use a plaited rein on the top and a curb rein (slightly thinner than normal plain rein) on the bottom. Plenty of people just use two plain reins, some use a laced on top.....the choice is endless!
