Thinking of buying one for Yeti- he's pretty barrel like with no withers, probably part welsh cob. Which treeless saddles do people prefer and steer clear of? Also can you jump in them? Not huge but sort of 2'6-2'9. What sizes? I need a 17.5" at least really but he's pretty sort coupled so a 17" is probably better for him.... in treed terms

I'd have a search thru the threads - we have discussed these saddles before.......
I have an SBS Heather Moffat - I love it on Tinker and Duke but it just doesn;t seem right on Doris - not really sure why. Very comfy, does not slip, and I *have* jumped in it, but it always seemed to hit me on the bum on the way back down - the padding is quite deep at the cantle
If you would like to try it you can borrow it if you like (i think we are close by - wakefield?)

Thanks for the offer Alison- may take you up on it at some point (depends if the xray is ok to ride him so may be getting ahead of myself here!) Im in Castleford so not far. Will have a search through threads.

We have a torsion and a trekker for Molly and Oliver. I prefer the big comfy trekker, and Rick likes the torsion. Never had any problems with them not fitting either pony, and neither have slipped or anything. And we go up and down some steep hills. Never tried jumping in them, but I think I could cope with the trekker, as its like an armchair!!
I have jumped some small jumps in the SBS that Tilly has. Thats the dressage one ......not sure I would actually do much jumping, at least not high ones.

You could do WH height jumps in the Freeform and BD allow it to be used in their comps also. I really liked mine. Pam has one for hacking and Caroline has one that she uses for hacking, jumping etc.

I have a Trekker. I absolutly love it for riding in. I feel so secure and oh my it is so comfortable. BUT I have had it for just 6 months and it is about to go for it's second repair . The stitching where the rings for the stirrup leathers has come undone .....now on both sides. It is still under guarantee so not costing me anything other than inconvenience but I think I am going to look for another saddle. I haven't heard of anyone else having problems and I searched the net for weeks before buying it so think I am probably just unlucky.

We have a barefoot cheyanne, which i have jumped up to 2ft9 with ease and is very comfy, but i wouldnt jump any higher than 3ft in it because of the lack of knee rolls.I also love it because when Sam puts in the dirty stops I dont fall off and then everyone comments on how good my seat is lol . only downside is that if i do loose my balance it slips easily, but not too much so if you shift your weight into opposite stirrup it sorts itself out. Would definately recommend it. Also we have size 1 which should be right for size of yours.

I've got the Freeform. I've had it about 2 years now and it's still in perfect condition (no repairs needed at all). I do some pretty extreme off-road hacking in it and I have popped over a couple of tiny jumps. Not sure I'd jump very high in it (even if I had the guts! LOL) as it does not have much in the way of knee-rolls. Saying that, I come down some pretty steep hills in it and it's never once caused me any problems. As a hacking saddle, it's fantastic and it's been very well worth the money.

I have not had any problems with the trekker. I have had mine quite a while, and its had some usage up our rough hills and tracks - it has not become worn looking yet. I would definitely consider having another trekker. Torsion is suede, and that has started to wear a bit on the seat.

I like the Ansur CLassic (now The Solution Energist) and have one. I know people who jump (up to quite scary heights actually) in theirs. I have only popped in mine.
