Well up to now I've been riding Flash bareback for a while each day as I've had problems finding him a saddle. Tomorrow Native saddle company are coming for a fitting so hope we get sorted. He's already changed shape since June going from xtra wide to wide so I'm a bit concerned about buying a new saddle in case he changes again in the near future. He is only 3 so will expect it to but hope he hangs on a while! Lol! He's wonderful to ride without a saddle, so calm and gentle, I really enjoy it! Mind you I do only walk and not for much longer than twenty minutes at a time as he's still only a babe!

It is a pain this saddle fitting business Sue and particularly when they are young - interesting that he's gone from x-wide to wide, I would have thought it would be the other way round! Can the NPS Co alter the tree if he changes shape again? Some saddlers can.

I'm hoping so Gill! I will ask on Tuesday when they come. Flash has really slimmed down quite nicely which is strange cos mine are usually pudding like! Must say this year none of them have put on much weight due to lack of grass so although the grazing is awful it has done them a favour!

girl on yard had demo and fitting for two horses last week with a balance saddle rep. but only rode one horse to test the new saddle. she ordered two @£3000. one arrived two days later so she tried it and rode the horse she hadnt ridden at the fitting (this is a new horse that is only ridden when instructor is there) because her daughter was having a lesson. after about 5 mins the saddle slipped horse bolted three times round the school and the girl fell off. hence saddle is going back. i was very interested in the balance saddle but have decided after this and the fact that the rep said sam is quite wide and will be difficult to fit and suggested a wintec synthetic that i wont bother. i rang the native pony co and discussed fitting price etc but havnt followed it up. will look forward to all the details about the fitting please. hope it goes well

what happened to the one you were picking up off peter, sue? wouldn't worry too much about flash slimming down, he will just be going upwards in his growing calendar! once hes stopped his upwards he will go back outwards!

Karen, you know the Fylde Ray was too wide so we went for the Hayden which again wasn't right. So we tried Kims samber which fitted him beautifully in June but is now so wide . I can't keep sending saddles back throught he post, it's costing me a fortune, so I thought right, I'll get someone to come out and do it properly, which I can't seem to do! Lol! We'll get there eventually and it really must be right for him, no compromises for my little star!!!! No poorly leg anymore by the way!! He is still the most gorgeous boy ever!

ahhhh i see! i don't blame you for not wanting to keep posting saddles......eek!!!! i hope you manage to get someone out sue. it just seems a shame he hasn't chunked out a bit now, so the new saddle will have more chance of lasting him a little longer...sighhhh..........flamin nuisance these saddles! oh good, im so pleased flashs leg s alright now sue.............im sure the little burger staged that so he didn't have to go to the fell show!! He's a lovely shape at the mo karen, my friend who is helping with him thinks he's so perfect! May have been that we thought he was wider than he was so should have gone for a narrower saddle to start with. His lower back is quite broad so we assumed he was the same all the way up. Wrong! Lady at native saddles says he's pear shaped(just like me! Lol!) Well, we'll find out tomorrow, saddle fitter is coming at 2pm, will let you know what happens!
Flash probably did know about the show! Far too intelligent for his own good! Lol!

Good luck saddle fitting. I know one year I spent about £200 on postage for saddles. The Native Pony Saddle company were very helpful even though in the end my Fjord defeated all their efforts.

I'm hoping Flash doesn't defeat them too Jacqui!
