I've got one on trial to see if it can help my damaged hip. The vet has given the go ahead to gently hack Jack out in walk so I've just tried it on him(hacked him out rond the village and the building site that we are living on! and he was fantastic) and I'm hoping to use it on Sabina tomorrow. The hip tear means I can only cope with around 10 mins at a time, so what I'm wondering is- looking to the future- how stable is the saddle for fast work? It's the prolite model. Thanks Jacqui

Jacqui I have no problems whatsoever using the prolite Fhoenix for any kind of work. I've galloped and sat major spooks without it shifting; you can choose whether or not to use knee rolls if you need extra stability (I have never used them). The greatest thing about them (to me) is that there are absolutely no worries about whether or not the saddle fits! And not to mention the wonderfully comfortable foam seat ...

To be honest Gill, I was worried about it being too wide for me given the tear in my hip, but once it was warmed up, it felt okay. I've a week to try it as the local agent has let me take his while he is on a course at Heather's.
Do you have a GP or a dressage model?

Sorry I'm not trying to hijack this post! But I went to a demo on Friday and they had the wow saddles there. we got to try all different ones out and what amazed me was how even on the wide wide one the waist was so narrow it was lovely. I did think of you Jacqui and thought this might be a saddle that would suit especially as every part of it is so geared to you and your horse not just the horse. What I did like was the short panel and bigger seat so you can have the seat to fit your bum and the panel to fit the horse. I was really impressed with them and they are deffo a saddle I would like to own.

Sarah, that was another on my list to try. I sat on Heather's once and I didn't like the feeling of being high off the horse, but it was comfy for my hip. I think it would be suitable, interesting that you thought the same..
I'm thinking once Sabina is fully muscled up that a WOW would be good to show her in, but that maybe a couple of years off yet. I know they can adjust the width, but I could do with one that fits Jack and Sabby at the moment due to lack of cash for 2 saddles. That's why I'm thinking, treeless.

Just to add another into the equation - I bought a Balance Saddle for Tom my Fell who is megga wide (bought Tom off Jacquidales), it's just fantastic and I could feel the difference in Tom from the minute we put it on. Basically he chose the one he wanted by the way he went in them. They are fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone. Lynn.

I did sit on all the different seats though they do a flat one which I didnt like much a shallow one which was lovely and an extra deep which was too deep for my liking but would probably appeal to dressage riders or even endurance probably be good for youngsters

Well, I've taken the plunge and told the local agent I'll have a fhoenix as it at least means both horses can be worked over winter.I've opted for the GP so at some stage I can start doing small jumps with Sabina and when I get my Merens, I can do trec with him in it.
