For months I could not decide whether or not to buy a Heather Moffett treeless saddle for my fell pony. I have looked at Heather Moffetts web site many times over the last year. Last month I bought an fhoenix GP saddle and how I wish I had bought it ages ago. instead of just looking at them!! I cannot now imagine going back to a traditional saddle. I also bought a Dr Cook bitless bridle (off Felldale) which is another item of tack that I have thought about getting for over 18 months. My pony is much calmer in her new tack and we both love it, although we have yet to test the brakes on the beach!! Wish we had gone bitless and treeless years ago!

I do like treeless saddles, although not all of them feel as secure as the Fhoenix. I rode on holiday in a Dr Cook bridle and the horses loved it and even in canter I felt like I had brakes.
I'm glad both are working out for you.

I have hankered after a Fhoenix for ages and was on the verge of bankrupting myself for one when I was given a HM Fhoenix suberpanel GP as a present in August. Just how lucky am I?! It is without doubt the best saddle I have ever had. I love it, Teddy loves it, his back has muscled up, topline increased, he moves and goes better in it, I ride him better in it. I cannot speak highly enough of it. I'm really glad you like it too jec!!

I had Heather's SBS saddle and now have the Fhoenix, and it fits all of my herd from Toby to Olivia (11.3hh to 14.3hh!!). I have no worries any more about all the usual saddle fitting problems and have been more than happy with it.
I do have another treed saddle which I also love but I didn't get this saddle without a lot of thought and research, as after the Fhoenix I have grown mighty fussy about what I put on my ponies' backs!

I have a prolite which is just starting to rub Squirrels back at the rear of the saddle! He is growing and changing shape so bit of a disaster. Anyone had this!
I have just bought my elderly cob mare (who had bad back shoes long story but not using back end) a suber pad from e bay to pop under her normal saddle as she has muscle wastage. The results have been totally unreal!!! She is a different horse in two rides and took off at gallop after the ponies today for the first time in years!
