I have noticed that when I come to do up Magics girth she's started to turn her head and nip me!!! She's never done this before. I use a clean girth each time I go out, and always brush the area to make sure she is clean. ( She is clipped) I don't like the girth I have. I find it hard to do up and sometimes the saddle slips over a little when I try to get the girth tight. I am wondering if I should buy a Professional Choice dreesage girth.(My saddle is a Fhoenix)These girths are expensive (£49),and have elastic at both ends. I have never used a girth with elastic at the buckles believing that the saddle will slip when I remount at a gate. I would be grateful if anyone could offer me advice. Judith.

I use the Prof Choice girth with my Fhoenix and mine makes the saddle no non slip I was able to mount from the ground once when I had to. Which is pretty amazing because saddles all tend to slip on Knight. I do have the suberpanel though which has been the least slippy on Knight's wide, flat backed self. Sometimes though Knight doesn't care for it, especially in winter coat as I think it can be so non slippy as to pull the hairs. Alot of people seem to do well with the wintec girths, I have used the shaped one & it's not bad, reasonable price and has stretch throughout the body of the girth. If you decide on prof choice check around as they come up on EE's website and sometimes on here. Or PM me as I can get them here for far less, even including shipping to you. Good luck with finding jsut the right girth.

Has Magic recently been clipped - could be just that he is feeling a little sensitive. Re. the Pro Choice girth - it definitely does stop slipping, but I had to stop using it as it caused sores on mine. This could very well be that the ponies using it were in very fat and unfit condition though!
What girth are you currently using? Is it long enough - the buckles should be only 2" below the flap. If too low they can catch the pony's elbows.

I have a pro choice girth and it's excellent, although a little short now that Nars is so fat.

LOL Jacqui! I just bought a Pro-choice girth for Harvey and had to get the longest one they do! I'm sure Nars can't be as bad as that!

Thank you all for your replies. The girth I have now is from cottage craft. It is long enough - reaches 2nd from top hole on girth straps each side. I think I am going to go for the Professional choice girth.
