There is an implement sale at our local agricultural mart on Saturday, and there are 2 gigs in for sale, to fit 15hh. One is a 2 seater circa 1860 and the other is a 2/4 seater circa 1880. I don't know the manufacturer.
There's a £1400 reserve on them, and probably vat on that too, so we're up to £1650 at the lowest price.
He also has 2 sets of leather harness, reserve of £350 each for 15 hh. Not really interested in those, just put it in to give you a guage of his prices. Don't know what condition they are in either.
Bear in mind that gigs don't come up for sale around here very often, so to get one I would have to travel to the Borders or beyond which would cost in diesel etc.
Do you think that's a reasonable price? I have no idea what condition they are in but for that price I would hope they are pretty good condition. I know it's hard to say when they are unseen.
What do you reckon? Please help me out or my cheque book could suffer the consequences!!!
