Next stage in the blinkers and he was as good as gold! Long reined him around the paddock, through the gazebo then out onto the lane. The blinkers didn't bother him at all and he went by wheelie bins, black bags, big sacks of sand, and he went by them all happily ,not even looking at them. Next week we're going onto tyre pulling so we'll have more pics of that stage. You can tell he's going to be so easy to do and hopefully will be in the carriage by the end of July at this rate! He also had a lovely hose down which he enjoyed! i7.photobucket.com/albums/y292/Linksway/Yorkshire092.jpg[/img] Having a stretch in this pic!

He's doing so well Jane,we keep forgetting he's only three! It's like working a mature pony,so calm and gentle. You have to have H in the carriage at the same time!

He is doing so well Kim, reminds me of Jazz so much! Everything you do with him he just accepts it (just like Jazz!) Might be able to drive them as a pair !

you and dave are doing a truly magnificent job with flashter! what a good lad taking to the blinkers like that. saying that, you haven't given him anything at all to worry about along the way, so he is obviously putting 100% trust in you, which is fabulous sue!

Flash is doing really well - taken to it like a duck to water I would say!! We have had some ponies have a panic attack with the blinkers, yet others like Molly were fine about it.
Looking forward to seeing Flash put to!!

Jodie was a bit worried by the blinkers for a while but did get used to them, but Flash never bothered at all. Must be patient but can't wait to put him to!
Hows Cherry doing Jo?

LOL Sods Law the night when I had planned to long rein her the yard was in total mayhem, one of those nights when everybody decided to everything at the same time, horses here there and everywhere as well as the kids throwing tantrums etc etc, anyway I went along with the plan. It was the first time Cherry had been in the yard with such chaos and she was a bit anxious especially as her neighbour was the only pony left out and was racing around screaming its head off. Anyway, I had OH (such a star) near her head and we went up and down the lane and she did really well. Obedient but not really concentrating, too much 'energy' in the air, but she wasn't bothered about the reins at all etc She walked on and whoaed when asked which was great, if a little sharp, and we did a bit of steering but as OH has lost a lot of fitness I didn't want to overdo him either. Since then she has got used to the yard when it is chaotic and I have got her to do more walking on a lunge line, doing full laps of the school then asking for a circle at one end, half waydown etc, varying it so she has to listen to my voice and then I attached the long reins to the bit and did a bit like that but she was happier when longreining in the walking behind mode, possibly because I prefer to do it that way as well. I'm going to do more this week and see if she is a little less sharp with the commands.
I see Sprite is taking an interest in what is going on, have you told him this is what you have lined up for him as well.

What a lot for a pony to put up with! At least you did it Jo and she'll get used to all the commotion eventually. Something you could without when you're starting a new pony! She sounds as if she'll be fine Jo. Yes, Sprite is very interested in what's going on ! Haven't told him everything yet ,only the nice bits! Lol! He'll have to wait a couple of years before he's driven as he's a real baby still so we'll let him grow up and play for a bit longer. He's so cute though and I love him like that! He's had a bit in so we'll probably keep that up with him, just to give him something to concentrate on when we walk him out. At the mo he just gets fed up after a while and wants to play about so he can have his playtime for a while but when we start...........look out Sprite!Lol!
