Tonight me and Mike made a 'cart' for Harley, with no wheels - just 2 x 2 by 2 poles with a shorter one across the end to make a 3 sided rectangle (know what I mean?). Its got hooks for the traces, and stops for the tugs. It's long enough to bounce along on the ground behind him and jiggle and make a noise. Lots of stones in the big field, good for bouncing!
I harnessed him up, he hasn't done any harness work for several weeks and long reined down the road to the big field. Did a bit of long reining and tyre pulling (boring!! says H) and then took the bull by the horns and decided to put him in his 'cart'. He stood no bother while I put the first side through the tug, then round to the other side, put it through and attached the breeching straps. Asked him to walk and off we went - he was a bit surprised and jigged for 3 strides, then walked but with his head up and ears twirling. Another 10 strides and his head came down and he just got on with it!!!!!!!! Never put a foot wrong. He walked off at one point, my fault for not holding him and I thought that would be curtains but no, he let me walk alongside him and catch him quietly. We worked for about 3/4 of an hour, then I took the 'cart' off and long reined him back to his field. All this and the 2 mares were screaming at him from either side, and he's had to deal with a new horse in the herd in the last week too.
We need a name for this 'cart' - any suggestions? His exercise gig is called the Harleygig!
I am so proud of him, he is such a star. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's brilliant, well done, he's coming on so well. He'll probably find pulling one with wheels a doddle now, when's the big day?

Well done Harley, he is doing really well.
LOL, we made ours out of round plastic drainpipe tube stuff so was called the Tubey. Very technical driving term that but obviously doesn't apply to your Woody.
