I sometimes get confused about where everyone is but if I remeber correctly you are in the Derbyshire? I noticed on my BDS Calender that there is a BDS Trec at Chatsworth on August 31st. This would be a fantastic, low key competition for you to do and I think it is one of the best ways to bring on a pony and have fun doing it. I think the format is changing but it usualy involves a safety presentation ie a judge casts an eye over you and your spares kit (don't bother with a posh one jsut needs to be practical), then you go off orienteering over a course which is usually done at a brisk trot in a set time (your groom is in charge of all of this LOL!!) then you come back and they invent some skills for you to do like reversing between cones, the pony halts and the groom walks round the whole turnout etc.... not against the clock they shouldn't require more skill than you might need to go for a drive anyway. Basically all the same polishing as you would do for showing but you get a whole mornings driving and it is much more welcoming than showing I think. Some people are really competitive and others just treat it as an oportunity to get out and about.

That sounds really neat! LOL...I have problems reversing the riding lawnmower...can't imagine trying to do it with pony and cart!

Sorry, I've only just spotted this! Sounds fantastic, as long as it doesn't clash with the performance show we may have a go! Thank you very much for thinking of us. (Mental note, need to learn reversing! LOL!!)
