I've been scanning the ads and getting increasingly despondent as I don't have £1,000 to spend on a basic intro carriage for Rose. the one I really like is £1,500, not a bad price for what it is but i can't justify spending that much when I'm not sure we'll ever use it much. I've seen this ad and cart. What do you all think? I was going to e-mail and see if he'd arrange a delivery up to us if we paid the pallet delivery charges. 2 Wheeled Exercise Cart13.2hh - 15.0hh Brand new 2 wheeled exercise cart. I think it looks neat which a lot of excercise carts don't. The moveabale seat is good. The detachable shafts are good for travelling. But.. from the picture is difficult to get the scale of things.... I would ask the height of the tugs and compare that to the height of Rose at tug height to see if the shafts will still be reasonably level. No suspension but my exercise cart doesn't either but does have bigger tyres on motorbike wheels to absorb shock. I drive (used to drive) on a lot of rough and flinty tracks which munched tyres so I would wonder if the wheels/tyres were up to off road driving, you maybe fine where you are but punctures, tyres off rims, bent rims etc are no fun. I have seen a tyre come off a rim and whack the pony up the backside!!!!! My first pony was quite onward bound though lighter than a Dales and even with a heavy Bennington and two people we were often airborne on some tracks. Difficult to assess the weight and workmanship of this carriage from a photo but they do take heck of a pounding. I don't mean to sound negative as it does look like a nice cart and may well suit you for starting and exercising (as its name states) and also, your pony is probably better behaved than mine was!

I agree with The Moo re height - check carefully to see if they are the right height - and width!
i know about the airborne thing too - my cart haspneumatics but we still do a lot of bouncing!!
BUT as a starter cart as long as it is high and wide wnough for Rose it will certainly do the job - and be saleable once you find out if you want to go further and start looking for a nice show gig or something.
Good gigs are few and far between in Scotland! Certainly in the north anyway.

If it fits I'm sure it will be fine to get you going. Although without a named builder it is difficult to know how reliable it is. I think there is something similar for sale on the robinson website from new and they give tug heights and you can send it back if it is pants!! The other place which is worth a look is the Bellcrown carriages website they do starter packs to include the harness for about £1000 so without the harness (presuming you have this) it would be cheaper. They do not have pneumatics though. Worth looking on the adtrader or freeads website/paper for something 2nd hand. Just a thought - best of luck finding something, it is a real trial!!!!!
