Apollo's liver hasn't been working quite right, and he's gettting Collovet to sort him out just now. He has a yellow rockie in the field, but doesn't bother with it.
I was wondering what sort of general vit/min supplement you all use, one that goes in the feed? All mine have always readily used the rockies before, never had one that totally blanked them!

I use Pasture Plus forage balancer which suits James, five pencils a day which he seems to enjoy, they are unmolassed. In the winter they go in a little feed with carrots. In the summer I just put them in his bowl on their own. They can be fed by hand if Apollo isn't the sort to nip. It's hard to say if they're palatable because the only thing James refuses to touch is Garlic

I use Top Spec comprehensive at the moment but I went to Your Horse Live and got some free samples of the Top Spec feed balancer and Top Spec Anti Lam (Tom very very fat!). It's very small pellets and I will be moving onto that when the tub I'm on at the moment is finished.
I tried him with both taking it out of my hand and he loved it - no surprise there then (eats anything in sight).
I would recommend it without a doubt.
They have an e-mail address on the info they gave me and couldn't have been more helpfull with advice at the show, it's nutritionist@topspec.com, I am sure if you dropped them a line they would be more than happy to advise you.
Hope it helps,
Lynn.

I also use benevit - but the advance version.
I think it is fab! And well priced too! I bought a big tub of it at the beginning of summer and it is still going strong!

Bea is on Benevit and I've been really pleased the results - he's been bright-eyed and shiney and full of health.

I've ordered some Benevit Advance, a 5kg tub. They quite often send offers through the post, so I'm hoping to get one now I've ordered so i can get money off the next tub!

Try giving a red and white rockie too and see which he likes. They usually pick what they need. Otherwise globalvite

I can't give red rockies because of the sheep in the field, they can't have red ones!
The lady I loan him from said he never really bothered with licks when she had him - yet the other horses were using them regularly. He's a strange boy!!

Jane have you got anything you could fix a Rockies lick holder onto, we've got sheep in the field, I've put a baby red rockies in a holder on the field shelter, the sheep can't get it and I keep my on it to make sure it's not breaking up and falling on the ground (not that they have ever done that(

Can they use there salt and mineral licks too much? Misty has one thats just a farmways own and she just stands there in a trance licking it, they are quite big and it doesnt take her long to get through it. Iv had to limit her with it because shes going through that much water im not sure its too good for her! Im wondering if its because shes bored too because shes been on box rest for months. Oh mine all get a balancer or pink powder for vit and mins.
