I usually feed Bobs with a bit of happy hoof but they had run out a while ago so I tried safe and sound. He absolutely wolfed it down and now I have gone back to happy hoof he's not eating it! Im wasting all his supplements and have had to go and get another bag of S&S, Im going to try and mix them together so I use all the HH up.
The S&S doesnt last as long as HH and is that bit more expensive, does anybody elses ponies prefer one to the other? I could always get some Speedi Beet to liven it up a bit but he really doesnt get that much, dont want him putting any more weight on!!!

Bobs 1: Bev 0!!!! If he doesn't eat it don't feed him! He won't die without suplements for a few days!! Can you see his ribs?? Probably not!! I've never tried S&S but you can guarantee if it's more pricy they'll prefer it!!! Ponies, hey, who'd have 'em??!

Dancer thinks happy hoof is the food of the gods!!!! Buy Bobs a bag of cheap £3.50 chop - that really heavy mollassas stuff - give him that for a few days, watch his nose upturn, then offer the happy hoof back!!! He only gets a handful a day, so the bag lasts forever! Funnily enough when I went to buy it, I was stuck between that and safe and sound - the price won me over!!!!! A couple of £'s here and there all make a differance

Jo I would worry about lami versus molasses lol, Bobs would love some sweet stuff! I did used to use hifi lite Zelda but swopped for happy hoof because I got into the trap of not knowing if he had enough vitamins LOL, Im such a sucker! He would leave the hi fi too. Trouble is there is still too much d**n grass! if I cut his hay down he just eats half his bed lol. He only has a little handful too!

Mine aren't hugely keen on Happy Hoof (that is when I ever feed it to them) but they aren't getting anything else LOL. Mind you it could be because of all the other cr*p I put in such as vit supplements, magnesium, garlic, oil etc!
When Dan & Toby were in I was giving them as little as I could get away with and they still left a bit of the Happy Hoof!

I have never tried safe and sound. If feed store is out of happy hoof, I have good doer. Never have a problem with my lot turning their noses up at any sort of feed. I quite like the smell of happy hoof myself ......Tilly, Oliver, prince and Tyson definitely like it!! If they left it, they would do without.

My lot will eat a few High Fibre Cubes at the moment but are turning their noses up at hay and the Hi fi Senior I got for Winnie. I reckon it is because there is still a lot of grass about so if they don't want it, they can go without.

I tried Safe and Sound when it was on the buy one get one free offer as it was cheaper than the Happy Hoof then. Mine ate it the same as the Happy Hoof and when the offer ran out and we went back to HH we had no problems. try feeding the Happy Hoof without the supplements for a couple of days and then re-introduce them. Mine do go through phases. They used to love Dengie products but now won't eat them. After a week of them not eating it I gave in and went to HH which I've been happy with ever since. Mine love those flavoured, heavily molassed feeds, you know, the 'cherry' ones etc. I hate them and don't think the molasses etc are particularly good for them so they have to have HH instead. I'm just mean to them you know

Merlin prefers Safe and Sound too. He used just to get Hifi lite and would gobble it up and then I felt sorry for him and tried Safe and Sound, and guess what, now he turns his nose up at HiFI Lite....
Know what you mean about too much grass too -I've ordered a muzzle for M and he is going to have to learn to put up with it for at least half of each day

The problem with things like HH is that to feed enough to give them all their vits and mins you need to give them half a bag a day - it really is a ridiculously large amount. I only ever used it as a filler to keep HRH happy, and to add a vit/min supplement to.
She always wolfed it down - but I've never found anything she doesn't wolf down...

Yes, Tilly will eat ANYTHING. She grabbed an empty carrier bag out of my pocket one day, and was happily munching away on it. I had a difficult job to persuade her to let me have it back!! You would think I starved her - well, yes I do, but don't tell Olivia lol!!

My ponies get Buster - half mug balancer Squirrel - half mug balancer, 1 scoop barley rings, 1 heaped scoop Alfa oil Fern - Farriers formula, 1 scoop fibre feed
I have worked out that the half a mug of balancer works out cheaper than all the other vits etc!
