Mike has found a company that sells old John Deere tractors near Grimsby - called Nick Young Tractor something or other.
We were just wondering if you or your hubby/family or any other DF's round about there know anything about the company - are they reputable etc? Or have you heard anything untoward about them?
I have a horrible feeling we may be hurtling down the A1with a trailer in tow early next year......and then hurtling back up through the night with a tractor on the trailer!!
Thank you :-)

Yes, both me and Andy have heard of them. They are VERY near us so if you need anything checking out first, just let me know. They seem a reputable business - Nick Young Tractor Parts, Holton-le-Moor. Not heard anything negative about them but if you need more info on the company, I can ask some of our "old tractor" friends. I take it you've seen their web site?
If you do come down to collect a tractor please let me know as it really is only 10/15 minutes drive from us.

Oh yes Pam, Mike has been cooing over it for weeks. He phoned them the other day but they had just sold the tractor he had his eye on. He said the chap sounded very friendly and knowledgable (sp) on the phone. He reckons even with the time away from home and the diesel, it is still cheaper to come down than to get one nearer home! Him and his Dad restored a little Massey 35 a few years ago and I think they want another project!
if you could ask a couple of tractor friends what they think of the company etc that would be very useful, thank you. PM might be better to make sure I find any replies, sometimes I don't get on here for a while and posts get left behind.
We know a lot of people with lorries, so may be able to tie it in with someone coming back up the road empty, which would at least save taking the trailer all that way.
I will certainly give you a yell if we head down - I can come and coo over Harvey while he coos over the tractor!!! I like tractors, but there is a limit to how much time I can spend examining them in detail LOL!
Thank you!

I'll ask around and let you know - we have quite a few "tractor contacts" in that area. We got our Massey 65 from another nearby tractor business and Andy spent 2 years lovingly restoring it so he and Mike have quite a bit in common. It's a long way to come for a tractor but I hope you do - it would be lovely to see you and a good excuse for another DF get together!

Sounds good to me, if Pam is happy to acomodate us all??? It would be a weekend when we would come because of our own jobs.
He is still humming and hawing about it, but I know Mike - when he is at the contemplation stage these things usually happen!!
I will keep you posted!
