those of you planning on coming on our winter ride on the 29th - you'll need it! Yesterday Roma and me decided to sort out a route by bike. We parked in the main car park, got out our bikes and set off to the start of the ride which will be at the Forrestry Commision buildings - just 20 yards into into the woods. Roma managed to lose the map she'd been given somewhere along this short stretch. I had a smaller scaled map I'd downloaded from the internet but couldn't read it anyway with out glasses (which I'd forgotten ). The tracks marked on my map didn't appear to exist, it seems a lot of tracks have become disused and new ones put in. So we spent ages biking up and down through the woods, getting thoroughly lost several times. The paths are fabulous for riding and you can go for miles. It will make a wonderful summer ride but we've decided to make this ride very short, bearing in mind the weather and poor light plus the fact that we have people on foot along and an elderly Dales Pony with a carriage. We think we've got a route sorted. It should be only around 3 miles with an extention for those who want.............but with our sense of direction it could turn out to be a lot longer! Maybe we should just park up for the mulled wine etc, have a good natter and then go straight home again! Might be safer and I think Harvey would approve! lol

Sue, he will be very enthusiastic really! Today I had him round our boring 5 mile block and he wanted to go and explore down every track we came across. He should be great fun to ride.

;D That sounds like the bulk of my hiking/camping trips as a kid. Most of the time we were completely lost, but its all good fun. You'll find your way back out eventually

Sounds like it will be great Pam! If you do it in the summer I will have to try and bring mine over, if I can stop by somewhere

Sounds like a lovely ride - I'm sure it will be great whatever the weather - especially with mulled wine and mince pies thrown in!!

Oh Gill, that would be lovely! There is plenty of room here for spare ponies! We are hoping to organise several rides next year, including a beach one and one through a local XC course (don't know if they still call it UK Chacers?) - jumps deffinately optional!
