Last night I did some last minute shopping. I rarely if ever bother to shop this close to Christmas, but couldn't resist going into a crafting store for some stickers.
Lo and behold, I'm stood behind a woman doing one of those split transactions, where one portion is done on a credit card, and a secondary portion is rung up seperately and done with cash. So I'm stood there, happily listening to the Christmas music and of course I'm overhearing the conversation of the couple behind me....bit hard to miss it.
At first they're looking through the 'Made in China' junk that's on the endcaps. You know the stuff that's cheap and is an impulse buy, the sort of things mothers have to pry out of their kids' hands as they struggle in the line. The couple are picking things up and then putting them down, trying to make a selection like they're browsing through fine flatware. Then I overhear the gal saying, "But I don't want to get them anything cheap, like its Made in China". LOL...sorry, you ARE looking at the stuff that's exactly that. I wondered why they didn't browse through the store instead. Then as I shifted, I heard the man.....mind you, they absolutely nothing in hand. They've only been hovering around the checkout lane. "Oh, now we've lost our place in line!"
Okay, talk about unclear of the concept!!! How are you supposed to buy something if you haven't exactly gone through the store....and you don't have anything in hand??
No wait, they're willing to fork over their money for nothing. Hmmmm....I think I'm on the wrong side of the til for this one ;D I've seen some silly shopping before, but this one really took the biscuit.
