I've got a very poorly little ratty - so ill in fact that my dad has given in and let him come inside for some intensive nursing.
He really was at deaths door this morning, but had a steroid jab plus gallons of antibiotics and he has slightly picked up. I've managed to get quite a lot of Guardian Angel down him (an emergency fluid of vits. mins, electrolytes, glucose and probiotics for small animals and birds - BRILLIANT stuff). But he's still refusing any food. I've tried chicken baby food, scrambled egg, mushed dog kibble and chocolate pudding and he's just not touching anything. Problem is once rats stop eating they just completely loose their appetite and just won't eat. Sometimes the steroids can reboot their appetite, but obviously not with Dom, and as good as Guardian Angel is rat's metabolism is so fast that they need to take in quite a few calories. If he's still not eating tomorrow I think I'll have to force feed him something to try and get his system going again.
So here I am trying a last dose of GA before going to bed (and not having a huge success, but he might have had enough fluids now). I'm trying to decide if he should have another one at about 4am - probably wouldn't hurt, but he does need some serious rest too. :/
Anyway I'll stop rambling now (can you tell I'm tired...)

Well Dominic is still with us. His breathing is MUCH better this morning (so much so in fact I thought he'd died as I couldn't hear anything coming from the carrier ) However I still can't get any food down him. The next things to try are some wet dog food I've got, and some salmon that we have got for dinner (well a bit off my portion). We're back to the vets tomorrow morning, so I can speak to them about what else we could try. Olivia

Poor boy, at least he's made it through the night. Does he like yougart drops at all? I know they're just a treat, but might tempt him, and the sugar in them should help a bit. I wonder what's gotten him so poorly so sudden? Keeping fingers crossed for him
