Had the inlaws round for christmas dinner, had just taken the turkey out but still had the stuffings and roast tatties to do when the oven went off!!!!! Shock horror, had to have a large sloe gin and managed to finish the dinner with the aid of several frying pans and the microwave. Merry Christmas to you all.

Oh no, thank goodness you had the turkey done before the oven went off! Well done you getting the whole meal done(with some Slow Gin to the rescue!). I expect enjoyed the meal all the more for the pre-dinner panic.

Gosh - well done!! I get so stressed cooking for loads of people that I might have had a cry into my sloe gin before getting to grips with the alternatives.

That was a close call! Glad you got it all sorted without too much hassle but I can imagine the panic ... I almost had the same when my Stanley stove conked out last week - have no idea how I'd have cooked an 8kg turkey LOL (let alone heat the house!).

Thankfully the oven is now working, I think the thermostat blew it off. Dinner was alright but I could do without the added stress.
