Meh - I need some new cages for the rats as we think the wood is causing them problems with their respiratory systems. I have found the ideal cages, but UK prices range from £130 (affordable) to £250 (not affordable!!!) and of course sods law dictates that the place that has them for £130 is out of stock and won't have any until end of MARCH! What's worse is that you can buy them in the states for as little as $140 - so very nearly half the cost of them in the UK I know shipping and import tax means that they couldn't be that cheap in the UK, but still twice the price ?!?!?!?! Don't think my foul mood is helped by a stinking cold and cough which means I've not managed to sleep for any longer than 20mins in a stretch for two days now

I have no idea Olivia - most things in most other countries are cheaper than what we pay here! It's just rip-off Britain

Tax is the answer to the question - that and higher labour costs.
Diesel is the thing that hits me hardest - I last filled my car at a cost of 105p per litre. I bought 55 litres and the tax I paid was £43.89. And the government want to charge us for using roads - outrageous. Sometimes I really dislike living in this country.....it's beautiful, but there's so much that isn't right.

A lot of our stuff comes in from China and I daresay gets subsidized in the process Its such a rare find to see "Made in USA" anymore. Don't even get me started on petrol!!! I've found that Missouri has switched at the pumps so we ARE utilizing 10% ethanol with our petrol. This is a VERY good think in my opinion (maybe they'll cut back on all the stupid high fructose corn syrup in our foods ) However, its the petrol distributors who are seeing the profits. At the pumps we're still getting stuck with the same pricing as straight. I do hope you can find what you're needing for rattie cages, Olivia. With them being so small, any polutants attack them faster. Its a struggle to know what to bed or house them in. Can you possibly order the same cages from the US and get them shipped to you??

Don't get me started either! The news this morning was predicting petrol will reach £5.00 a gallon this year (I still can't get my head around litres for petrol ) This will have a knock on effect on just about every thing......

LOL - I do think if the world goes completely tits up I could bring Tilly home and she could work for a living. Those of us with nice big Dalesy types will be soooo much better off than those with poncy TBs come the apocalypse On the cage front I have found a lovely man called Paul who imports a very similar cage straight from China (you were right Debbie - that's exactly where they are made) at £125 - which I think is a bargin! So I've just flexed me credit and brought three!

Your rattie babies will love that cage!!! We had one similar for kittens and ferrets in a pet shop I worked in. It was brilliant, so much space for them, and dead easy to keep clean. I'm so glad you're able to get one direct from this guy
