We've just come through a first....a Missouri tornado ~ in January!! All's fine, critters fine, vehicles and house intact. We're under a tornado warning just now, and apparently we've just had another skim the area (probably to the west of us). Blossom's up on tiptoes, putting the Lippizaner stallions to shame just now. She's inventing manoevers, all involving some impressive hangtime. She's very not keen on the man's voice booming the tornado warning over the tannoy system next door. For the actual tornado, she stayed high and dry in her shelter. I ran for cover in the house, grabbed Amanda out of the sunroom when the heavy hail hit and we duck n covered in the oldest section of the home. We did the classic 'eye of the storm' and then heavier hail and some massive lightning strikes to top it all. What a way to blow in the New Year!

Ewwwww - you, Eldon and the critters stay safe. It sounds terribly scary - I think Blossom's got the right idea bouncing around. Maybe if she looks REALLY big and frightening she'll scare the tornadoes away!

Blossom's not the only one on pins and needles. This weather's always set me on my toes. Just now the storms are settling down. I think we're coming out from uner them, but the skies are still an odd colour.
Ironically for the tornado itself Blossom couldn't be fussed as she was high and dry, munching away on her tea. She wouldn't budge from her apples and beetpulp for a bit of weather! It wasn't until the second wave hit with the man's voice booming over the tannoy instead of our normal sirens that she was concerned and doing her airs above ground.
Bless her, another apple and she thinks its not perfect, but okay.
I'd say for those in Illinois and Ohio, be aware! This was one extremely nasty storm system that hit excessively strong and excessively fast. Its going to spawn more tornadoes as it goes, and it certainly deserves some respect.

I'm up at silly o'clock. Its been storming all night long, so I can't say I've had a very restful night's sleep. We're still under tornado warning until 5am. Looks like a second storm front was what kept me up all night. And what radar shows over the top of us is nasty. ...yawn!!!..... looks like we'll be back to the mixture of and for the rest of the week.

Blossom and Mister are both pretty clingy today. I feel like I'm wearing a cat and a pony LOL....but I can understand. Last night was pretty rough. Blossom's got her blankie back on today as our temperatures are plunging with the winds rotating from the north again. She thinks the world is getting back to being pretty okay. Yes indeedy, now the news reports are coming in, and it did some impressive damage. We still don't know where, but apparently another tornado lifted several freight train cars from the track. I would not have wanted to be anywhere near that!! I'm just glad its over. We usually don't get started with tornadoes until Febuary, or March. Looks like 2008 really wants to be a blustery year.

Crivens Debbie, please stay safe.
We had a road like an ice rink this morning - I gave up walking and skated in my wellies LOL! Now it has snowed a bit and we are waiting to see if more comes - enough for a day off work i hope.
