My poor old girlie got a quick stable exit tonight as Isaac went in to hoover once she'd finished and she was slow coming out. She looked un-level on the front which turned out to be cos she was holding a back one up! Durrr! Have left them in with some hay to see if it's okay when it wears off otherwise I have the difficult choice of whether to leave her in the yard (with a pal) where she'll seize up for not moving enough over night, or let her out to do hoolies with everyone else in thick mud! Blurdi hell! The only plus side of my poorly is work don't want me back this week in case I make anyone else ill, but they did drop the papers from my desk and a laptop off with my OH so I could do some work to save me feeling like a fraud!

How considerate of work! Poor Choc - hopefully it's nothing serious. I worry all the time about my lot injuring themselves hoolying in this deep mud. I only hope it dries up a bit before we get some hard frosts or it will be even more dangerous.

Bad news - she's worse so definitely needs to stay in I feel so helpless! No point in calling the vet tonight as it'll be box rest and bute, but she didn't want "my bute" (devil's claw or white willow bark) but did have some wintergreen eo (Ralgex!), yarrow (anti inflam) and eucalyptus (for her cold). d**n d**n d**n!!!! To make matters worse, I'm on my last bale of hay (big bale barley straw and more hay coming tomorrow) and next to no bedding. I hope this isn't a predictor for the rest of the year.

Oh man! I hate pony politics ....sigh....fingers crossed you can source some hay, make her comfortable and get yourself some rest and recover whilst you're at it. At the very least you don't have to go into work.

Oh no!!!!!! Do you think she's tweaked something slipping in the wet? Or even a foot prick with all this wet? I hope she's moving better this morning - maybe she just wanted a night in, out of all the rain!
Fingers crossed for the vet today and hope your hay and straw deliveries arrive early.

Still limping but not so bad this morning, but has seized up from not moving much over night. As to the night in, she can come in whenever she likes as I leave the stables open for them! Her cannon bone is a bit swollen and a bit hot but it's not obvious if it's going up or coming down or just she's been kicked.
Hay lasted for this morning (without having to starve any fatties, honest! ;D ) and my big straw bale arrived just after 9am so they'll be back on straw tonight! LOL! It lives in a very small open fronted shed, so I have to finish one before the next one arrives, fortunately it only comes from 1/2 a mile down the road from my obliging neighbour. I also discovered a bale of bedding straw I'd forgotten I'd got this morning but Choc was fine with the rubber matting for one night.
I kept everyone in the yard rug-less all morning as it was bright and sunny, if cold, so they could have a sctitch of each other, and then let the boys out who paddled off to the far reaches of my fields where there is new grass, and then put the girls in the shut up field near the house so Choc only had 50 yards of mud to manage. She was mightily impressed with this field and Amy looked at me in dis-belief!! Now I've just got to remember to retrieve them before dark! LOL!

Just in time! Fortunately the boys had brought themselves up and the girls were thirsty so came out when I opened the gate! Choc went back to the gate after drinking and coughed in my direction!! LOL! Everyone had tea and I've let them all out to see how that goes tonight - fingers crossed! If she's bad tomorrow she'll have to stay on the yard.
I will try arnica tomorrow if I can un-mud her leg sufficiently Debbie, thanks.
Thanks for being here for me everyone, it really helps!!

Choc seems alot better this morning (though leg still a bit big), even having a little canter when she thought she was getting left behind so can't be too bad! LOL! Work have actually been great with me considering all the time I've had off in the last two years, and I would have gone back mon or tues if they hadn't told me to stay away so at least with the laptop I could do some work as I'm buried at the moment cos the lady thay should be job sharing with me got seconded else where and I'm still trying to do 5 days work in 3! So no complaints on that front really! At least tomorrow I'm officially off! I need some sunshine!!!!!
