...sigh...why does this always happen on the coldest day? I bet vets wonder the same as they get their callouts. "Washer'', one of my chicks was wibbly when we had the last spate of single digit weather. Yesterday we were at 40*F, this morning 2* Gotta love the swings in temps here. Anyway I got to the chickens this morning to find HenPen wailing away at Washer. She's right, the flock doesn't need disease outbreaks, so she was only doing what was natural in culling the weakling. However, I won't stand for it. A bit of croissant, and they were all bolting for it, even Washer. I've brought her in for now. She's currently nesting in a big carrier in the sunroom asleep. I'm baffled by this one, she's eating, sleeping, got good weight on her breast, carrying on and getting along with the others well, not being shoved aside. Eyes are bright, no cough, no discharge, and yet she's weak on her feet and this morning distinctly shivering from the cold. ?? It never bodes well for any bird to be like that, but I'm rather hoping she'll recover well enough for me to go back with the others later. She's ever so sweet. She could do with any DFs vibes you can muster.

Well she's feeling toasty warm and rather ....lucky? She's in the growing room under one of our greenhouse lamps. Its the toastiest spot we could find, and she's enjoying the psuedo-sun.
She's been sleeping well today, and has drank water everytime I've offered it. She's also scoffed the food in with her. Hubby watched her wobbling as well, and he's never seen anything like it either.
We'll keep her separated until she's feeling much stronger and better in herself.

Happy as a clam at high tide....and still as wonky as ever She keeps trying to come out for a walkabout, and falls over much of the time. I can't say as I've ever seen anything quite like it. She seems happy in herself, eating and drinking...everything just peach, but she gets herself going, and is uncoordinated. I've looked at her outter earholes, and she seems totally fine, no swelling, no scratching at them. Sitting or eating, etc, she's not tilting the head or anything. She can run for food if she's excited and she runs true, but otherwise loses her balance and falls over. I'm baffled. We'll just keep her away from the others and take it from there. I won't bother to put her back with them until she's proven she can keep steady on her feet again. LOL, not that she seems distressed on bit being alone. She's thoroughly enjoying her pampering. I'm just hoping she'll come round. Maybe its some form of virus? If so, I've got hope with extra TLC she'll come round from it.
