Oh no Ali I don't think you need worry about your arm going weak it will soon recover when the stookie (as we call them in Scotland) comes off, will you be able to get a scribe (someone to write for you) in your exams. Take it easy don't try to do too much with that arm and let the bones heal - at least it's not the summer

Oh Ali - you poor thing! Try taking paracetamol and nurofen - they did the trick for me. Don't worry about your arm going weak at this point - just rest and recover.

So sorry Ali to hear about your accident, Becky broke her wrist last year (her writing hand aswell) the day before the summer hols. There didn't seem alot she could do whilst the pot was on to maintain strength but when it came off she ended up having physio which was a brilliant help. I recall her squeezing a large sponge and doing loads of exercises. We had to shout for the physio as they didn't seem to offer it as standard but it really made a big difference. Hope you aren't in to much pain. Can you do your exams by dictation? Are they your mocks? Becky has just done hers.

Oh Ali - poor, poor you! Hope all goes well at the hosp today and your new pot is comfortable.
I'm going into mummy mode now.....bear with me ! LOL Don't underestimate the shock to your system of breaking your wrist. All sorts of chemicals will be whizzing around your bloodstream right now. So be really, really kind to yourself; rest when you feel tired and eat as healthily as you can to give your body the things it needs to repair itself.
I hope the school can sort out a way for you to do your exams. Make sure you include a doctor's letter so that the examiners know you had a broken arm. You will be able to get extra time allowance too - so make sure you ask for it.
Poor Ali....sending a big hug

Poor Ali! All from falling off a bike. She's been here most of the morning and was able to watch the vet with Quest which was a big help to me - despite being in shock she was able to take more in than I was! I think she is being amazingly brave - last night she rang the doorbell with her Mum to tell me what had happened so I could cancel her riding lesson and then they carried on with the paper round before going into A&E! Anyway, she's gone home now, after a healthy lunch (I've said the same as you, Sue) and will have a nice, bright pink cast next time I see her, to match Harvey's pink bridle. So lots of healing vibes for Ali please!

Oh poor Ali, try not to worry too much about your exams - I'm sure the school will be very sympathetic and do what they can to help you. Just follow doctor's orders as much as you can and hope it heals soon! Sending a big

Oh no Ali - You have ALL my sympathy - fractures are horrid.
Try and convince your doctor to give you a splint rather than a cast. You can do much more with it on than a cast - you can take it off for showers etc, it doesn't matter if it gets a bit wet. I was even riding Tilly about 2 weeks after I broke my wrist. It also means that you can start to build up strength much more quickly than with a cast where it's totally immobile for several weeks. Of course this is only suitable for some fractures - but worth asking.
Keep taking ibuprofen - tis the stuff of the gods!!!!
