advice please can young horses suffer from laminitis? my friend who i rent a field from has moved the boys into a field waist high in grass with seeded heads and clover etc i was bringing Scout my cob in each day but Tomas Dales is only 4years and i dont want to bring him in or put a muzzel on him if he needs grass to help him "grow up" if you know wot i mean but i dont want him to be poorly either xx HELP xx

I certainly wouldn't say they can't get it - all of mine show signs of low grade laminitis in their hooves due to lush grass, even the fillies at ages 2 and 3. They have not been unsound or ill but it's a warning sign that I need to watch what they eat, as it always happens when they are first turned onto spring grass, and over winter it goes away.
I would ask your vet's advice to be sure, but err on the side of caution if you can.
