i have used this product for years as a general midge repelent, but thought this year i would try a few others at the shop and i have to say today i have decided to go back to it!!!it is as good as any of the "natural" horsey fly/midge repellents and as it dilutes to make 25 litres, all for £7.95 !!!!! its definately much better value for money!!! i still do think that the products that contain "deet" are far better but as i dont have ponies with sweet itch, and although we are in the bottom of a valley, have a stream, woods on the land so have tremendous midgy problem, the ponies "only" suffer as much as most.......so if you want a ordinary, natural, value for money repellent give it a try www.doghealth.co.uk they do it in 2 sizes, and usually comes within 2 days, also for those of you who have doggies they do some super stuff...... ps has anyone tried any products with "neem" in? or cat something? cant remember what its called?

I tried neem products last year. They are quite good, but not a wonder oil as made out. However, the products stink like onions.
I' going to try the product you use as we also get plauged by midges due to the trees and woodland surrounding our field.

Was ABSOLUTELY unimpressed with neem - at the moment am using a cattle pour on (from my vet) mixed with pig oil (from my feed merchant). this appears to be he best so far

Just ordered some Dynamite - tho it sounds a bit explosive... Thanks for the recommendation, will report back how it goes both with sweet itch and non-SI ponies

Rebeccajane, is that not a bit sticky? Which pour on is it and what's the dilution with the oil? I use spot-on for cattle and sheep on the little ponies who aren't ridden, but as it's oily it leaves a mark on their shoulders, and I'm not convinced about using it on a riding horse and then putting a saddle on. I reckon I'd need to leave it a few days before riding

Thanks for the recommendation.. I ordered some and have used it the last 2 days.It seems to work well so far....The SI sufferer wears a rug at present, but use dit when she was ridden and she did seem calmer. And on Betty it stopped her rubbing her rear and tail on the fencing! Might be coincidence but the 2 days she had been back in this field she had rubbed madly...Put the Dynamite on Tuesday evening and yesterday she hadnt rubbed. Will be using it on my little dog as well as may help keep the odd fleas off her ...... Edited to say...hopefully will keep the normal fleas off as well...

Harleydales - not sticky but wouldnt necessarily put oil on sadle patch if I was riding that day ;D ;D At the moment its Flypor but think it was something else before. 10ml per 100kg bodyweight and about 1/2 litre (pint in old money of pig oil.
