Just wondering about buying a fly fringe or mask for Streak who is being pestered by mores flies than I've ever seen before. She's not blessed with a good Dales forelock, which I suspect is why they are bothering her more than the others.
Just wondered if anyone can recommend what to look for, and what to avoid, in these? Prices seem to vary hugely, and I did wonder if some of the masks may rub a bit or risk getting a fly trapped inside them which probably wouldn't be too nice.
Any thoughts, I'd be really grateful!
Thanks
Sarah

Flash is the same Sarah, not such a long forelock as the others and the flies were driving him mad! I brought him just a normal fly fringe attached to his headcollar and it worked until yesterday when he managed to get it off! I think he had been playing with Sprite and between them they managed to get it off! Don't think I'd bother with any different types as they'd still get rid of them somehow when they're playing!

I certainly do have the shires one for Penny too - and it covers her nose to stop the sunburn. But at the mo she is still wearing her grazing muzzle so that does the sun block! This is Penny's one www.barnstormers.co.uk/acatalog/Fly_Veils_and_Fringes.html7th one down.... 'FULL FACE MESH FLY VEIL '

Sarah,
I got a freebie from the Boett people, its just the mask that covers their eyes, but its a large cob size one. If that would fit Streaky you are welcome to it. It feels really good quality and has padding round it.
Last year I tried to use one of the Shires ones (with ears) on Dan, but the little so and so could remove it really qucikly, as in a couple of minutes!

Thanks for all the replies, and especially thanks Clair for the offer of your freebie (unfortunately Streaky does have very much a FULL size head though)! Much appreciated. Got out to my little local tack shop today, and have bought one of the firm mesh ones, with ears, I think it was a Weatherbeeta, but basically it wasn't too pricey and looked reasonably put together and soft. Streak has settled just fine into wearing it, and seems a lot more relaxed with all the pesky little critters now!
How long it'll last, or whether it'll still be on by morning, who knows.
