I would like to recommend this company to anyone who has the misfortune of losing a beloved pony or horse. Caroline who owns the company has been so thoughtful and caring over the last month and started the business because of the lack of facilities available when she lost her own two beloved horses. She has made a very difficult time a little easier by arranging the collection of my two girls, the drivers on both occasions were so respectful, pleasant and kind. She can arrange individual cremation which i chose, shared or economic cremation and return of ashes/shoes, anything you want and at all times i have felt my girls were in safe and caring hands. I feel it is so important to have an idea in advance what will happen if the worst case scenario comes to fruition. If you have made plans and looked into the options a little, although this may seem a little morbid, then when the time comes it can be comforting to know what you are going to do. I am sure there are other companies which also provide a very caring service, I just think that everyone should have a number tucked away somewhere just in case. Jo x

horse ownership is such a responsibility isn't it? I do think we all have to as some point consider ""what if?""
It is comforting to know that there are businesses out there that can offer a kind and caring service at a time when most people who have to contact them are at a low ebb and feel like crying/screaming after having to make the awful decision to say good bye to a much loved horse/pony. I hope it will be a very very long time before I am in that position but am grateful to have been told of someone who can handle well a very difficult situation without adding further stress to the owners.

Thankyou for posting this. It can't have been easy for you. It is true, this subject is something we should all think about in advance. When I was in that awful situation my farrier took over all the arrangements for me as I was totally unprepared mentally to cope. I would not have managed without his help. Since then I have given the matter more thought and, as you say, it is sensible to have a number tucked away just in case.

It's good to know there are kind sensitive people around to help us deal with these awful times.
The person who has cornered the market in equine disposal in our area never fails to stun me with her lack of kindness for both the deceased animal and bereaved owner. It doesn't take any effort just to be respectful and thoughtful but this person seems to just get the job done. Needless to say, I have not and never will use them.

it's nice to know there's someone there when the time comes. Never thought about it much but it's something we should all think about.

We are probably fortunate that the local slaughterer - who is based about 4 miles from us, he is actually just outside Hayfield - has always been good when removing our dead animals. Saying the men who come out are rough and ready, they are thoughtful. And they have always let Rick put the chains on our horses himself when dragging the horses from the field. OK, its never dignified no matter how careful you are, but they are never disrespectful of our animals or indeed our feelings.
But I do agree, if thats what you want, the people who do cremations is a good idea. Actually, our slaughterer does do cremations if asked.

One thing i would like to warn people about is that there are only a handful (4 I think) of crematoriums in the country large enough to take a fully grown horse/pony in one piece. Most of them have to make them fit. Just something you may need/like to know. I know some people don't mind as when the animal has died It makes no difference to the animal what happens. Just a personal view I was a lot happier knowing they were going in alone and in one piece. Jo x
