Can anyone recommend a good lightweight wheelbarrow. The one I am using at the moment is an ancient, heavy builder's barrow and I feel the need to treat myself to a new one especially as I am now suffering from tennis elbow and the way I carry hay is not helping! There was a lovely equestrian barrow for sale in Countrywide but the price was nearly £200! What do you all use?

A few years ago I got a green platic wheelbarrow which I like because it is light wieght and doesn't rust. It cost about £30, I think, from the village hardwear shop. I don't know what make it is. Builders wheelbarrows have rotted and rusted after a while, the plastic ones are far better.

We're using the orange plastic wheelbarrows from B&Q they are just normal sized ones but nice and light price about £36
I'd love one of the big barrows but the ones I've seen in the flesh were dissapointing the handles were very low I would have ended up bending down (and I'm only 5ft 2) instead of bending my knees to lift them up then giving myself a sore back

I've got a nice, light plastic barrow similar to Zelda's. But, mostly I use the quad bike with a plastic trailer in tow!

I've always used the green plastic gardener's barrows, I've had one for years and it is still going strong. I much prefer them to the metal barrows, they seem easier to manipulate!

I like the B&Q orange plastic ones but I have the aluminum model which is still light and great value for money.

Zelda - I'll check the make this morning. It's a black plastic oblong trailer, about the length of a hay bale. It's got a manual tipping mechanism and is brilliant for towing behind the quad. Very useful for all sorts of jobs around the place. We bought it a couple of years ago so i can't remember the price. It wasn't cheap but well worth it - at the moment I use it several times a day - to do the field droppings, put out hay in the paddock, move fencing stuff etc.
Modified to say ours is an Agri-Fab, Polyutility 10. It has just done the rounds to pick up all the field poos and bring out a bale of hay for the horses - it would have been a nightmre doing this by barrow through all the thick mud we've got.

Thanks Pam, I'll have an internet scout and see if I can find it, we've got a metal trailer it's really a car one and I think it's useless (Tom bought it lol) it is so difficult to get on and off the quad I can't do it.

I've also got the same one as Pam, I tow it behind the tractor to do the poo picking. It holds a lot but the only problem I have is when it is full I can hardly tip it, especially when the poo is wet! This is the one I have, except I paid £150 www.gardencut.co.uk/product_details.asp?pid=1882
