Highly recommended Joint Supplement

As you all probably know by now Danny has bone spavin in both hocks that was diagnosed in Setember last year. He has had steriod injections into his hocks and a month later I started riding him again, he was lame. One day when I was on this site one of the adverts at the top of the screen caught my eye with the tag 'Lame horses come sound'. Now I try to ignore those sort of ads as they always seem to be a gimmic but after a few days of looking at it I clicked on it. The supplement is based on green-lipped muscle powder

I read through the site and it sounded fantastic and for the sake of £30 I thought I would give it a go as I had just got off Danny in tears as he was lame.

Within 4 days, yes only 4 days I had a complettly different horse, he was bright eyed bushy tailed and full of vigour and vitality. I couldn't believe the differance and it can only have been the pills as everything else about his diet and routine were exactly the same. After a week I trotted him up and he was 100% sound, so I got on and rode him and he felt fab. When he was diagnosed after looking at the x-rays the vet said that she didn't know how much ridden work he would be able to do. She thought that he would hack and maybe do some baby schooling and now we are doing this, our first Elementary dressage test that I never though we would get to do.



Now I know this sounds like a corny advert but its not meant to be, but if this supplement helps only 1 other horse on here like it has Danny I would be thrilled.

I'm really pleased it's working for danny! What a lovely pic of you both!

I tried the human version for myself. It didn't seem to help but I probably didn't give it a fair chance becasue it tasted foul - like dirty sea water and rotten shell fish! Perhaps the equine version tastes better!

Mmmm, Pam, my favourite!! I've often wondered about Green Lipped Mussel stuff too. Glucosamine did nothing for me!!

Delighted it's working for Danny though Kristy - maybe it would be something Emily could try for Mickey?

Danny gobbles it down Linda. They are just little tablets that smell of peppermint.

I tried the human version this morning and I have to say they were a little fishy hopefully they will help though.

Ive ordered some for Mickey, but am not holding out for any improvement purely because I tend to get supplements, think they'll be a wonder cure and be very disappointed. If it does it will be a bonus.
YM will love me as it'll be something else to put in his feed- though as long as it doesnt smell as rank as riaflex I dont think she'll mind!
Will give a tub a go- nothing tried, nothing gained.

I've used Glycoflex (dog tablets) for years and its based on the (green lipped) pernicula mussle. I cannot rave about how well it helped my knee ( I used to have troubles with my knee partially dislocating )

I used the dog version because at the time they didn't have the human version. I simply worked out the weight ratio, and took the needed amount of tablets. Now here comes the enlightening bit....The human version came out, and I looked it over as I was getting ready to reorder. It was a bit spendier, but I was willing to buy it. Then I took a look at the amount of mussle they said was needed for a human vs that of a dog ~ and it was far, far less! They were banking on humans to have a 'placebo' effect. And let's face it, with a dog, if it hurts, they'll limp, so they have to use the correct/higher doseage. I thought it was a bum rap, as I did hear people complain that it didn't work. It does, in the right doseage.

I have to say I was THRILLED to see those pics of Danny and you competing in the elementary dressage, particularly after the posts last Sept. I'm really, really, really pleased that its helped you and Danny

I use Green Lipped on my dog Bertie, and it worked wonders on him, much better results than the metacam, so pleased that it has helped you. I recommed it to anyone.

Mickey's now on it so time will tell. He is a little fussy about them but he can be fussy with new smells and tastes (unless its guinness!). Fast delivery though.
Im not expecting a miracle though as Ive seen the xrays and know how lame he is. That said he doesnt help himself when an escapee got into his field- he showed he was still well and truely the boss.

Emily, please keep us updated on how Mickey responds to it. I do hope it does help him, and if it does, I might give it another go myself despite the unpeasant taste!

I will do He will be a difficult case anyway as we're not sure how much of his lameness is mechanical rather than pain.

Not that Ive noticed There again, its hard to judge as there is 1 horse on the yard who is breaking through the fencing every day (only 1 horse!) and going in his field. Mickey was always a boss horse, and always will be so charges round like something possessed when it happens so Id expect him to be very lame anyway.
Trouble is- I cant see how it can be stopped bar keeping escapee in 24/7, installing post and rail (which it'd probably still ram) or tieing it to a tree!!! Very frustrating!
