I am in the market for a new camera, as I am fed up of borrowing Tony,s camera(not his good one but the one I,m allowed to use lol!) so I have decided to get my own, now don,t get me wrong I would love to be able to take pics like Gill but that is highly unlikely, what I need is some thing that is blond bimbo friendly so I have spoken to a couple of people trawled the internet and OH even came home with a camera mag that confused me even more...anyway I have narrowed it down to a couple and I,m going to have a look on Monday, but the one I fancy is the Olympus MJU 700, just wondered what everyone uses. www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/29_mju_700.htm

To be honest Van, you wouldn't be disappointed with most of the big name cameras out today - the Olympus certainly takes excellent pics and all of these compacts are reasonably priced compared to what they used to be. The amount of megapixels is amazing, my first digital was only 1MP LOL - mobile phones have more than that now!!
It looks a lovely little camera, try one out in a shop and if it feels good then get one on the internet - you can usually get them miles cheaper.

It looks a great camera, I like that it says it has a 'weatherpproof' casing as we had two camera's (both canon powershots) broken and the canon repair people said they weren't meant to be used in the damp (it wasn't raining just a grey day) and the other one I apparently damaged by having traces of suncream on my finger. We have since bought a pentax waterproof one which is great. The canon people said most camera's are very sensative to any damp etc so that one sounds good.

I've got the Olympus c-765 ultra zoom as well and think it's great, it's very easy to use and gives really good results, but I'm thinking of getting a new camera that's a bit faster

Yes the C765 does have quite a delay on the shutter, so that you can never get the action as it happens. The Canon I have now is really fast so I should be able to get better knee action instead of guessing when I should press the shutter!
