Pam, I've not taken many photos at all recently so haven't done any updates on the ponies. Did I mention to you that Max went to his new home at the end of April? To a lovely couple who I'll be able to keep in touch with at least once or twice a year. They'd just lost one of their elderly horses the day before, and rang to ask me if they could collect Max the next morning as their old horse's companion was pining. Apparently when Max unloaded and walked into his stable, he and his new companion were grooming each other over the partition within a few minutes! Awww, I just thought that was lovely that they'd both found a friend when they needed one! Fluff's wound has now all but healed over in terms of new skin - just a pea sized scab at the moment, which I think will go over the next month or so. However, there is still a prominent lump of scar tissue under the skin, which may or may not decrease. Anyway, at least she is sound on it and once the skin is fully grown over then there's no increased risk of infection, so that's good. Thankfully her fur has grown over most of the scar now, too, so it doesn't look anywhere near as unsightly as it did. Have just entered her for one local show in a few weeks time, and looking at a few more late shows to take her to just so she gets a couple of outings this year. I'm sure the judge will notice her wound, but at least it's not as prominent as it has been. Really MUST get some more photos taken of all the gang! Especially when we get a bit of rain and the grass greens up again! Oh Jill, I'd never thought of myself as a granny. Oh, no, please no!!! I really don't feel old enough!!! LOL. Oh, if anyone's interested in seeing 3 of Dora's grown up children, there's a photo of each of them on the YDTC site at YDTC.net - Black, Monty and Jack Flash. Handsome and talented chappies the lot of them!! www.ydtc.net/our_ponies_black.htmwww.ydtc.net/our_ponies_monty.htmwww.ydtc.net/our_ponies_jack.htmSarah

Thanks for the update, Sarah. I've been wondering whether Max is with his new owner now. I guess I missed any earlier posts about it but lovely to hear how quickly he settled into his new home. Also glad to hear Fluff is fine and her injury well healed now. Good luck for the show with her.
Nice to see the pics of Dora's children - 3 rather good looking lads!

Pam,
I just had another update about Max last night. His new owner had been to a yard where Dalesfan Fran was, and so she'd asked how Max was doing. This was, I think, a week or two back. Apparently he's doing just fine and they'd been having fun introducing him to a few different things. Nice to hear he's still doing ok, nearly 3 months after we said goodbye to him here.

That's great news Sarah, Dora's youngsters are lovely! I too was wondering about Max, did he fully recover from his leg problems? I'm glad to hear he has gone to a good home

Thanks Gill. The vet last saw Max a week or so before he went to his new home, and the new owner was here at the time. He asked me to trot Max up on the yard and up the track, and even with doing that all the vet could say was that the right hind appeared marginally weaker than the other legs, but only very slightly so. If we hadn't known there'd been a problem, we probably wouldn't have spotted any difference at all. So that was very very encouraging. For a month or so before he left here, he was out in a field with Dora with the run of the field, track and stable, and managing all gaits very easily (and enthusiastically!), so I really hope he carries on doing so well. I couldn't wish for a better home for him. They're a couple who will really look after him. They've proved that already by standing by their decision to buy him even when things went pearshaped.

Sounds like there may be quite a few Dalesfans foalies to watch out for next spring. It's just a long wait between now and then!
