Whats the latest you can put a mare in foal? Is it right she finishes her seasons in about october? If so could she go to the stallion now? Thanks guys

Yes she could easily go to a stallion now, we have a visitor arriving this weekend actually. Its incredibly late but as long as you have the facilities to over-winter a young foal there is no actual problem...also bear in mind in the showring as youngsters you will be against ponies born several months ahead of yours.

thanks, i wouldnt be concerned about showing as it would be a welsh sec d cross irish draught. Had some bad news about my welsh mare yesterday and shes going to be off work for at least 9 months and then only 50/50 chance of been sound so she might aswell have babies! the vet said she would be fine to carry foals and she is stunning as is the stallion i would hopefully use, hes very expensive but a grade a show jumper so hopefully would get my next jumping machine as she has a huge jump and with the conformations of the two it should be a stunning baby! Something will go wrong though knowing my blurdi luck at the moment.
