I wasn't at the barn for three days. Wed - Fri. Had training for work. My girlfriend at the barn today set me down. She said that Feather was showing signs of being in season. She is winking, showing her rear, and trying to get the geldings attention. However, she is round, bagged up, and her belly has dropped. The vet is coming out Thur. She was confirmed in foal when I got her. I talked to some friends of mine that breed Dales in Oregon. They said one of the mares they have will always try to get the boys attention. I checked her. She has milk. Please tell me this kinda stuff is normal. I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing. Happy Mothers Day to all !

I've got my fingers crossed for you! Hopefully the "breeding experts" on here can shed some more light on this.

Try not to panic If she's got milk, surely she'll foal for you. I'd be surprised if your friends in Oregon weren't right about this. ;D Tell them hi from me the next time you chat with them!

True that some mares are like this, I hope Feather's one and that everything's fine. The rest of her signs sure sound like a mare nearing foaling. They love to give us gray hair, these ponies.
Say "Hi" for me also to your friends in Oregon, Knight is their first foal.

Dr. Ben was out Monday. He examined her. He said he was 95 % sure she was not. Dr. Davis will be here next week to do a complete check. I am at a loss.

Be a cynic, and prepared for the worst (she may have reabsorbed the foal if all was not going correctly with its development), but as the others have said, sometimes you get lucky and have a foalie afterall. You must be bitterly dissappointed after all this time, though

Anne,
I am just reading this post. I was just going to say that both of my Dales mares showed heat while all the time being pregnant. I was sad to see the end result. Sorry!
