Harley Davidson, b. 1997 By Moorend Jock (Ashwood Black Prince/ Diane) Out of Fulford Sheena (Stainton Commando/Fulford Amber)
Pam, Bellajack and Rose - Harley is a distant relative too - Moorend Jock's grand father was Burdon Freestep!!
This is great fun! Wonder if we could do some huge family tree?

bellajack, Grace at 14.1 is just a perfect size, so I tease the breeder that they fed Knight too well. I always threatened to put a brick on his head to keep him from growing any more.

LENNY - Strathblane Lennox Dhu DOB: 1993 Approx. 14.3 / 15.0 hh
By: Waterside Peter (Burdon Freestep / Hodgson Lane Rosemary) Out of: Kexwith Tilly (Heathers Son / Kexwith Lady)
Only just re-discovered this Website address - so have started reading with great interest. Lenny stays at Malham at the moment (for the past 8 years) - but is coming to live with me permanently in Lancashire at the end of this month. I bought him from Julie Pennell 8 years ago (thank you so much Julie for the opportunity to own a Great Dales Pony - he's doing great !!!). This thread is so interesting - it shows just how closely related the Dales Ponies are to each other. I believe a lady recently bought Waterside Peter (Lenny's Sire) and would love to know how he is doing and/or see some pictures of him. The same applies to Kexwith Tilly (Lenny's Dam). I know nothing about her and would love any information about her.
Karron and Lenny

Can I ask a daft question? I don't know anything about bloodlines and I was wondering where names like Thornville come from. Urbansgirl has Thornville Dan, but his mum and dad don't have Thornville in their name. Is it the name of the farm where Dan was bred? There's a lot of dales whose names start with the same word (e.g. "Village" or "Hett") and I was wondering whether that was an indication of where they were bred or whether it was a sign of which bloodline they came from. I'm confused so hope I have managed to make sense here!!

It usually the breeders prefix first ie Village, Dartdale, Kilmannan and so many more

The foal gets the prefix of who ever bred it.
Like for example our prefix is Quicksill. Minnie (Quicksill Heather Belle) was bred by us but we bought her mother who was bred by someone else with the a different prefix (killington).

What I find even more confusing is that ponies with the same prefix can have completely different bloodlines, so its no good thinking that if you like a particular pony that one with the same prefix will be a sister/brother etc they may be but they could equally be very distant cousins. It could alomst drive a person to
