Garry has confirmed he will be coming to me on Saturday 19th May and will be available to do his talk on pasture management for us and have a walk round my fields telling us all the things I do wrong! (I am either mad or stupid!!)
He will be talking about grazing rotation plans, grass mixes, drainage and ditches, aeration, equine digestion and diet, horse management and much more. He is very knowledgeable, if controversial, and well worth listening to.
The talk will start at about 11am, so pls be here for 10.30 to allow time for coffee, loos, catching up with folks, etc. Please bring a packed lunch as he will probably talk through and I'm not sure if Steve will be about to cater for us! It will finish at about 3pm, but you can leave earlier if you need to as we will be walking about in the afternoon, or stay later if you want to play with my ponies! The cost will be about £5 per person to go towards his travelling costs.
Can you pls advise me asap if you'd like to come as places will be limited, and I'll pm out directions etc. Can you also pls send me a contact phone number in case anything changes as I'm better at talking than typing!
Hope all those interested can make it!
Cheers
Lucy
PS I am near Ashbourne in Derbyshire.

I'm VERY interested in what Garry has to say but it is too far for me to come and I wouldn't be able to walk across the fields anyway. But please do post a report of the day. I am keen to learn anything I can about how to mangage our own fields for the best.

Jo Ashby, Keith Massingham (Shazza's husband), Jane Berresford (my hoof trimmer), Sue my mate who rides Amy and Steve and I!
It was a shame there weren't a few more for Garry's sake, but meant we got all our own questions answered!
Garry will do us another talk in the autumn (say September) IF I can get the numbers to come, but as he's travelling from East Sussex I need to be fairly sure of attendance to cover his fees/costs. It was okay this time as I was paying for a consultation and the talk was a bonus, otherwise I'd have been well out of pocket.
