Olivia - do you think this would be of any use to people if it went in the 'Useful Posts' section? I know people are quite often querying worming programmes This one is from my local vets and is the one I follow: Worming Programme
Year 1
Panacur or Equivalant eg: Telmin to be given every 6-8 weeks as your routine wormer, except in: July, try use Strongid P as a 2x dose for tape worm. November use Panacur guard for 5 days for inhibited larvae. December use Eqvalan for elimination of bots.
Year 2
Eqvalan to be given every 6-8 weeks as your routine wormer except in: July 2x Strongid P November Panacur 5day December Eqvalan
Year 3
Strongid P to be given every 6-8 weeks as your routine wormer, except in: November use Panacur 5 day December use eqvalan

A lot of vets are now advising not to use panacur as the resistance is so widespread...

I have started having a worm count done to try to cut down the amount of chemicals I use. Had the first one done a few weeks ago and was shocked to find the count was high! Since last summer I have been keeping D in a sectioned off bit on the own and poo pick every day. I was really surprised that her count was so high. It will be interesting to see what it is next time.

Equest every 13weeks Equitape spring and autumn (at same time) No need for anything else. Worm counts 0 for all worms inc Tape blood test.
I find this the simplest of all. My vet recommends just keeping going as there is no known resisitance to either drug, and my risk is so high due to intensive grazing and poor poo picking habits of others!!
We all worm at the same time with the same product.

Ditto Khristyne with the exception that my vet says only to tape worm once a year in late autumn

Me to but I'm begining to wonder if I need to do this. We have sheep running in the field and had read that I shouldn't need to worm as a result. Must ask the vet, probably need worm count though
