We took Jazz and Willow to their first dressage comp today. Willow unfortunately lived up to her nickname of willow the witch and didn't do too well. She was a star loading and at the ground but as soon as she went in the arena she switched off completely We were over the moon with Jazz, she tried really hard and came 8th out of 30 which was fantastic bless her. In the judges comments she wrote 'A superb pony with a lovely attitude' which came as a surprise as she was the hairiest one there, in fact I think she was the only native ;D and was getting quite a few looks around the showground LOL. Here's Jazz and Sarah

WEll done everyone...
Sorry Willow was a bit switched off on the day. I must admit that Jazz has lovely movement. He is really working hard, listening to his rider, and tracking up very well indeed.
AND something I can never do in competition without a pelham, he is on the bit and his face nice and vertical.
I love it, when us native folk, can put a bit of competition in the way of the skinny warmbloods ... Sorry no emotions... they dont work on my office computer for some reason...
Well done again. As for Williow, is she rather new at this?
I wouldnt be too worried. With practice Im sure she will improve as well. Mhenna is very different at a dressage event. She is totally switched off at a show, and very sluggish and pony treking mode... but at dressage... totally uncontrol-able!
At least she travelled well. and in my book this alone is such an important aspect of horse training isnt it.

Well done Jazz- she looks like she went well. Disappointing about Willow BUT at least she loaded and didnt go to the other extreme and do a rodeo display or something!

Thankyou for your lovely comments, we are so pleased with Jazz. Willow is Willow, and some days she can be a star like the other week when Sarah took her show jumping and other days she can be a stroppy madam LOL. She didn't do anything nasty, just wouldn't listen or pay attention and cantered on the wrong leg twice, which she never normally does. Poor Sarah was disappointed, but at least she had a good ride on Jazz.
