Well - a bit until the battery went flat!!
This is from the beginning of the year! Have just unearthed it as am having a sort out - sick of random discs all over the joint!!
As you will see we have poky nose syndrome!!! ;D The filming in the indoor arena is a tad dark unfortunately.
Oh, and apologies for those who have sound and have the unfortunate blessing of hearing mother ramble on all the way through!! Got to love her!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRDJxKfn-AI

P10 is a looonnnggg test!! LOL I hate it. I wont do it again. It is a bit tight for Dancer and I!! And you have to canter across the full diagnal - which goes against the grain for Dancer! There is an awful lot of trotting in it as well! He is a 'beat' horse. Very rythmic ( sp! : all the way through. I just wish he would pick his feet up slightly higher as we do have the occasional tripsy due to lack of ground clearance!!!

Great to see this. He does keep his rhythem nicely. I love to see hairies doing dressage. I'm not keen on P10 either, somehow it doesn't seem to flow well.

I really enjoyed watching your test. Well done. I love p10 as D is good at small circles, but I know what you mean about the canter, it does go on a bit!!!! One day I will do more than the trot work in competition instead of HC with no canter!!!
Dancer certainly has a lovely rythmn. What marks did you get?

Thanks!! ;D
Khristyne, we came out of it with a score of 128 and 58.2%. It was won on a score of 163. We wernt placed, but middle of the pack, so not disapointed as P10 is not our test!! LOL

Dont put yourself down! I never in a trillion years though I would do dressage. We are not well schooled and practise does not make perfect LOL However, we get in there and give it a swirl. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!
Have a go - you will be surprised at how well you do!
Our very first outing, we came 4th out of 22 people! Absolutely shocked myself.

Thats really kind...thanks Jo! I'll give it a go sometime then. I think it's not really knowing anything how the tests work etc that puts me off. But then I knew nothing about showing until a few weeks ago, so I guess I've just got to jump in there and do it! What's the most basic class i could enter and what would we need to do?

A lot of places now are doing a walk and trot test, which is exactly as it sounds! That is for the rider that is obviously not happy with a canter. My friends confidence has doubled since she started doing these.
From there, there are the Prelim tests. Which are the ones I do. Prelim 4 and 7 are very nice tests in my opinion. Prelim 7 especially, seems to flow very nicely.
All you do, is find one in your area, although it does seem to be more of a winter thing, it will probably be listed as unaffiliated and they usually list the tests available on the day: P4 and P7 are good ones to start on. You will have to 'book in advance' so to speak. Ring in the designated time/ day to find out your test time and turn up! You will need to be turned out in your show gear, snaffle bridle and no martingale for Prelim. You can use spurs though and take in a stick if you wish. They mark you as you do your test, tot up the total and release your papers at the end. Most places allow you to have a caller as well to read the test out for you as you do it, so you dont have as much pressure to remember it.
It is nice as you can see the points you need to work on. Circles were my bug bear, but I have cracked them (just about!) now.
