O k now I have got on and eneterd Holly. What exactly should I wear? Do I have to wear a hat? I'd rather not a s it gets so hot. Also would it be possible to wear a waistcoat with a shirt and tie instead of a jacket again for the hot factor. All advice gratefully received! Jo x

Hmmmn.....I am going to roast! I have a blue tweed jacket and a blue dps tie. I was going to get a school shirt as i'm quite little and that would be cheap. Holly actually has a black bridle. Do you think I should get her a brown one. Also do I use her reins to lead her or a leather show lead. Oh dear i don't know what to do about the hat! I'll have to have a look round or borrow a blue riding hat. I will also have to get trousers, show cane and gloves. This is going to get expensive! I was thinking of putting my hair in a net then if i have to wear a hat as it's mad corkscrew curls! Jo x

Yes that what we intend to do! She has been known to go up so i am going to get a blue velvet riding hat for safety reasons! Hadn't really thought about it before but it would be a sensible precaution. Thank you all very much for your advice and pictures. I feel a lot clearer about what I am aiming for now! Jo x

Karen, you said a green tweed jacket. Is that just your preference as it looks best with black/brown ponies or is it what is expected by the judges.

Karen, you said a green tweed jacket. Is that just your preference as it looks best with black/brown ponies or is it what is expected by the judges. Green is the "norm". Historically blue tweeds were cheaper, inferior quality jackets and whether we like it or not - there is a lot of snobbery in showing! There are a lot of brown tweeds being worn now so the attitude is slowly changing.

I think brown tended to be coarser?

Well just tried my jacket on and it's a touch snug shall we say! Going t try to trade it in for a more comfortable model. (aah the saga of the drastically increasing for no discernible reason bust!!!!) I'll see if i can find a green one then. Jo x
