Had a good day at Cleveland on Saturday apart from the heat being unbearable. In the afternoon there was a couple of heavy showers but everyone seemed quite happy to get soaked as it actually cooled you down a little bit. The Dales classes had a few ponies in that had not been out yet this year so that was nice. The Dales Champion was Alison Eccles with Westwick Heather. We only took Jubilee, our Welsh cob. She did brilliantly. I have never known a show with so many championships. She won the Large M&M 4 years and over then was Large Champion. She then went in with the smalls and was Champion again. We were about to go home when she was called for to go in with the ridden M&Ms. She won the championship of that. Then she went in with all the other in-hand champions with another judge. Alison and Heather was champion and Ian and jubilee Reserve. Then Alison and Ian were asked to stay for another Championship with ridden and in-hand from every section. Neither got anything in that one. It was most confusing. All I know is we came away with 2 lovely trophies, a silver medal, 3 championship rosettes and a reserve championship.

Wow! Very well done. Lovely photos of Jubilee! And well done to Alison with Heather - I DO like that mare.
Disappointing to see so few ponies in some of the Dales classes, especially when it's right in the heartland of Dales country - only 3 mares/foals; and only 3 yearlings (though that did mean that my Rose came away with a yellow rosette!). I think the 2/3year old class was better supported, but I didn't see the classes beyond that. Hope there are more Dales there next year.
Nice show though. Just too bloomin' hot, even by mid morning!

Well done Norma, thats some set of silverware/rossettes to bring home!! She's looking really great and clearly well deserved. What a shame there weren't more Dales about, maybe I'll have to convince mum to go up there next year. We had a weekend off too LOL.

Brian,
I was going to ask if anyone recognised a Dalesfan in that picture.... but then thought no-one would stand a chance. It took me a while to recognise you even when you were standing only 15 yards away! Never seen you wearing a suit...... or such a smart hat before!

You are right Sarah he took some recognising and we were there. i don't think many would know the back of his head anyway.LOL. It was a shame about the number of entries. There are usually more but I was told quite a lot were getting hay in. Something to do with the date of set aside or something. Plus, I would have possibly had 4 there if not probationing, and Brians' Grace was missing as he was stewarding. Anna it would mean another early morning for you to get there on time for the Dales but you could easily get up in time for the M&M class with your new girl. By the way have you chosen a name yet.
