I think its really nice Olivia, velvet collars are ok these days for showing...most people have them anyway. I think its just the job for the performance show!

I think it is lovely Olivia!
I was a bit taken back by the price mind - but I am a tight hectar!! LOL
My tweed is a Mears one off Ebay and it is a lovely cut and fit.
I think you will look rather smart!

Jo - all the other jackets I've found at that size are £80+ so £40 is a bargin

Very nice - it buttons up correctly for a lady - unless the photo is reversed!

My tweed had a velvet collar and I only got rid of it because it was grey and I wanted brown! I think the velvet collars look very smart, and I wouldn't hesitate to get another one.
Hope you get it Olivia!

well I've bid on it, we'll have to see if I win it or not! I couldn't believe my luck when I saw it on ebay! My size, my prefered colour, good make. I was delighted. And this means you'll all be able to have a good laugh at my abysmal riding at the performance show!

we seem to have got away with it in the m and ms nic, but in the cob and hunter classes it is still frowned upon. we should really, to be correct have no velvet or trimmings as the m and ms are supposed to be a workmanlike picture with no frills. simple buut smart, if you like

That's true Karen, but I think the velvet collars actually look nicer than the plain ones. Personal opinion of course. It seems the jacket manufacturers make by far the majority of their jackets with velvet collars nowadays though don't they? It is obviously a trend thing, and no doubt one day the plain collar will make a comeback and we will all follow suit.

it is a trend thing penny, certainly. i doubt i will change back to plain collars unless im forced! velvet was originally seen on show ponies/hacks........along with the velvet browbands............now that is one thing i WOULD draw the line at on a mountain and moorland pony!
