just a thought! if we get to the p show - entry accepted we may be bringing fran's friend she is 16 and we go to shows with her quite often she doesnt have a dales but is a lovely rider and jumps at bsja level. just an idea if any of you want someone to jump your pony - if this is allowed - i am sure she would like to. below is a pic of her at the mini ode she went to with fran. jumping far lower than she is used to but enjoyed it all the same. there are some more pics once in the gallery www.beanpix.com/chameleon/photo/6777084890380just a thought karen

Thats a good idea for someone who is not keen on jumping themselves. But, for insurance purposes, riders or handlers have to be members of the Dales Pony Society. Perhaps you are not aware of this?

Just a thought but would that insurance rule apply if there are people competing who have 'dales type' ponies - they may not be members of the DPS ?

Thats a good point Alison!! I would have thought you would still have to be a member of DPS to be covered by the insurance .......whatever horse you had. But those who only have Dales type ponies may not be in the DPS .......?

i am under the impression that anyone who enters has to join the dps and pay the membership.

Same here Fran, theres nothing stopping people with dales type ponies joing the DPS. Isn't there this refund business these days too so it only costs something like £5 if you just want to join for the insurance sake.

Yes I have got to join the DPS to be able to compete at the show. I think for a junior it's £10. but adults are £20.

Karen
I think we discussed a while ago that there's a special type of membership for those who only want to attent DPS shows and events, and don't want any other services from the DPS. The current cost is £5 per person (which is written down as being £20 per adult less a £15 rebate, or £10 per child under 18 years less a £5 rebate). All exhibitors, riders and handlers at DPS shows and events have to be fully paid up members of the DPS whether it's the "rebated" membership or the usual full membership. You can get membership details from the secretary via the DPS website and for the cost of £5 per person, it's not much to add to the cost of entering the show classes even just on the offchance of a ride at the show maybe?
