so far, so good. it's all coming together!!! entry accepted at p. show, spoke to valerie this morning. very nice and helpful lady.
now for the nitty gritty, can you use any bit on your pony apart from when in the dressage class. and what about saddles can we use the treeless?
fran has a black jacket but not a tweed, does this matter?
thanks karen

Good! I dont think the jacket matters - the performance show is all about giving everyone a chance to have a go at some things they may never do elsewhere. It is lovely to have the competition side of it, but it is all in a very much more friendly and encouraging atmosphere for pony and rider.
Whatever bit Sam is used to will be fine and I cannot think anyone will have a problem with treeless saddle either.
See you there! Make sure you come a quake next to me!

Hi - glad you can make it. I only have a black jacket and was really worried about it last year, but it doesn't matter at all. I think it is supposed to be a snaffle bit for novice level, but I'm not sure. I am really looking forward to it. Jill

I have bodged together tack and a treeless saddle too but hopefully no one will notice - I reckon everyone on this board will be so busy going who's that ? and cooo at the ponies that it doesn't matter. Well I will be anyway. - so you will look smarter than me. We can be in a 'not sure what to do gang' but have a lovely time anyway.

Dalesfans drink? Surely not!! Although I do confess to maybe having a swig out of Sue's hip flask, Bev's hip flask ......a glass or two, along the way lol!!!
I don't think what you wear, what the pony wears etc. is going to be noticed .....its such a nice friendly fun show.

Karen
last year I went HC with Dora in the dressage because there's no way I'd have felt happy taking her in a snaffle bit, and chose to use a pelham instead. It just meant that we weren't part of the competition for that class, but still got helpful comments (as well as marks) on the judging sheet. So even for the dressage, you CAN go in using a different bit, just as long as you understand that that rules you out of any chance of a rosette.
