Hi Rowena,
We are going from Cheshire but we are going up tomorrow. It looks quite straightforward. Get on the M62 and head east, past Huddersfield etc. Come off at j34, signposted Selby. Stay on the A19. After going through Chapel Haddlesey and then Burn, take the 2nd exit at the roundabout (still following the A19), then after nearly a mile, turn left into Mill Lane (signposted Gateforth).

We are on the Derbyshire/Cheshire border, but go to Glossop and go that way to Huddersfield, so not much help to you I am afraid!!
