A long old haul, but we got there in plenty of time - an hour early so plenty of cups of tea to get us started. Caught up loads of folk I haven't seen for ages which was just brilliant. Gabriel hasn't been shown for two years what with his stallion duties, and under saddle training this winter/spring, so we were a bit apprehensive.... Glad to say he was excellent, not a foot wrong ALL day long, just brilliant which totally made my day. Winning the Stallion class. Winning the Stallion Ridden class. Showing off the trophies ;D He was supposed to do the ridden champs but we thought we would skip them - his first ever outing under saddle, the one class was enough, he didn't put a foot wrong and to ask for more at such an early stage in his development would have been wrong. We came away very happy bunnies

Sarah, I was chuffed to bits with his impecable behaviour, we parked up away from others to ensure he didn't have any disturbances, which we found out later was unfounded, but better safe than sorry . In the end we had lots of riders using the section we parked up as a warming up area, Gabe didn't bat an eyelid, looked over occasionally and then carried on grazing. Not a single call to the ladies, I was so very proud of him
I told Jules to use the ridden stallions class as a schooling arena and not to expect anything too much from him, put him through his paces give him a pat - job done type of thing. To the left of him he had a big ridden class of mares, all cantering around, the odd gallop from one or two of the girls, Gabriel remained calm throughout. Jules had only ridden him the day before for 20 minutes to check out responses, obedience etc., this was the first time she had ridden him.....I did say to her, IF she felt unsure, not to enter the ring, but to walk around the grounds etc., that would have been good enough for me, provided he remained calm, sensible, responsive and obedient, he was superb throughout.
In the in hand class, he listened, stood beautifully square, did not fidget and gave a stunning performance.
The lad has really matured beautifully - I may be making too much of this, but for a stallion to be pulled away from his mares the day before and expect perfect manners at a show, with lots of inseason mares.....he was brilliant and a joy to be around. Love that boy so much....and yes, I was very very proud of him, he certainly stopped a few conversations whilst he was walking around, people just stopped and looked.

Gabriel looked lovely and was such a good boy! OH Jet, wished you had of come over and introduced yourself..... it would have been lovely to meet you, and a shame you couldn't bring your lad down either, but wasn't it a lovely show, lovely atmospher and stunning weather, relaxed, I loved it. Although I have to say, it was a very poor turnout over all, previous years it had been humming with ponies, certainly in the stallion classes a fair number didn't turn up. I enjoyed catching up with loads of people I hadn't seen since the last show and met some lovely new owners too. I hope to see you next year maybe?

Definitely Gina! It was so hot though, got a bit more tan to last me through the winter. Such a lovely relaxed show but the bumpy ground worried me a bit. Lots of ponies were stumbling and I know if I'd been showing I would have gone down a hole!!! Lol!
At one point Dave said you were actually standing next to our car talking on the phone after he'd seen the pics! Do wish I'd met you and the beautiful Gabriel!
I did manage to buy lots of Fell pony goodies so must remember not to wear them at any Dales shows!!!!! They had some lovely things and spent far too much money!

The ground was aweful wasn't it, the owner grazes his cattle in that field as you'd probably noticed.....LOL....talk about cowpats, thankgod they were dry... !! I only wish they would put the rings lower down the field, actually on the site where all the stands are - it would make it easier for all, I saw two poor girls hiking up that hill in the pairs class...whoa did they look hot!! I spent loads too - sponsored 4 classes with prize money and ribbons, and spent a fortune buying new t-shirts, stickers which I really didn't need, new badge - have three already...! and a zip up waste jacket - now that style was new so could justify that one....!! You'll have to let me know which shows you do in the future, it maybe that we may cross paths earlier than the breed shows - would love to meet up with you too.

I brought one of those jackets Gina! They are lovely, must try and convince Dales merch that they should do them, then I could have one of each! I'll let you know which shows we do next year then we can say hello at last!

LOL. Ooooh, that really does sound as though Gabe's selfcontrol and manners were well and truly put to the test....... and that he came through with flying colours.
