Instructor came last week and asked if I was going to the local show this weekend - knowing what I know now - I would have said 'oh yes, we will be there all day'! However, I said instead 'yes, but as Dan is on nights, we are only going for the morning, so just doing in hand classes'. 'No no no, she says you can do WHP - that is the 1st ridden of the day - all you have to do is make sure he will jump a bale and do your show'
Easy peasy methinks - even I can jump a bale!
So, instructor came last night, and I dutifully provided the bale. And she is integrating it into a little course which also included a rustic with pallet fillers. Kindly said, why are you wasting your time building those when all I am jumping is a bale (already provided LOL!!!) Oh no, she says, you don't understand - the bale is within a COURSE of jumps!!!!
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I had to jump one jump and that was it!!! And, no one corrected me otherwise - the set of
So now, I am doing a full course of jumps IN PUBLIC and going to make a right idiot of myself! And I cant afford a new jacket when I fall off and put a hole in this one!
And what has become clear over our past couple of jumping lessons is that Dancer quite fancies himself as a WHP!!! He just tanks off with me towards it at 100 miles an hour, launches us over and then keeps going (occasionally bucking for good measure!) I have no control what so ever!!! I think that is what freaks me out - he goes from steady eddy to something on speed! LOL And then - when he puts a dirty great stop in - only one of us jumps!
So - wish us luck - we are,without a doubt going to need it!
