aaaahaaaaaaa...........i think its all down to just how brave you are as to what you wear, do you not think so kermie? its that question you ask yourself when you do something dareing......."will this make me stand out and be different........working to my advantage.........or will i be dropped for being out of the norm"!!!!!! castle hill flashs' rider dane wore white tails last year in an evening performance and it paid off for him.......most people remember him wearing these.........he carried it off to a T..........that boy i take my hat off to..........he IS a SHOWMAN! i like the long brown boots, but not for the showring kermie.

I thought tails (on an MFH) were for evening only? Ie not for riding in but for the hunt ball....

perhaps the accepted evening "wear" is changing slightly in the way that velvet collars on tweeds are now acceptable! LOL It's not just the evening wear. I'm not very keen on the current trend towards brown long boots. Where/when do they wear these? I've never seen them (mind you I don't go to all that many shows!!). I like them for riding at home but prefer black boots for the show ring.

Lynn Russell wears long brown riding boots I think she started the trend and of course now all these other people have jumped on the band wagon. I've seen at least 4 people wearing brown long boots this year - none of them Lynn Russell, but all of them on M&Ms. One was on a chestnut Section D and she also wore a brown hat - she suited them more than the others!

There were some at P(UK) this year and I've seen a few out and about on the county circuit - its normally the same people that do the same shows as you tbh not lots of different people. At the minute different, brightly coloured tweeds are in but i think your right in thast boots will be the next trend. I'll just stick with my boring brown tweed and black boots

I suppose that is what it's all about - showmanship.
I saw a pic of castle hill flash with the rider in the white tails - I thought "what the" but then had to admit it looked impressive.
Last year at Hoys, some people in the M&M championship (which was in the afternoon) had changed to 'evening wear'. The champion and reserve, both prof.produced - neither of them had changed their outfits at all!?

Just to ask on the end of all this - what would you wear to do dressage (v v low level!) is it a black or navy jacket or can you do it in tweeds?

last year at PUK we saw a little girl in a PINK tweed! at a distance i thought she was in the ring in a pink fleece,so went closer to have a look, that was a shock to me! i have seen the pink leather saddle advertised a while ago in 1 of the business mags, dont know if anyone has actually ever bought 1 or stocks them!
i too have wondered what should be worn by the rider of a traditional coloured?we havent shown milly much yet but plan too next year at beth only has her tweed, also my friend has just bought a blue and white coloured, not a cob though and she asked me what jacket to get,but im not sure really.....
so...beth & milly...fully featherd,mane etc coloured hairy...not sure yet what classes... friend....lw-mw coloured,pulled mane,tail,no feather...
any suggestions of what classes they should/could enter other than coloured! and apropriate attire......also a WH question, aside from m&m wh,the ordinary wh classes do they have to be pulled, plaited etc? or any horse that could would withstand a days hunting happily etc???you know what i mean!
